Staff couldn't have been more helpful - put us in a different room when they realised we had dogs, it was on the ground floor and near the back door so really good to get them out for walks. Beach across the road is really nice for dog walking (turn right when you go along it or you get to the dog exclusion zone v quickly.) Also good for fossil hunting. Nice breakfast, comfy bed, very good shower. Well stocked bar for the evening. Recommend the Thai that's just down the road too.

Redcar is much like any other British sea side town, It is past its heyday but was clean, tidy with a good selection of shops and as we went for a night away from the day to day pressures of life it hit the spot. There is plenty to do depending on what you want, the Frosty penguins crazy golf is well worth a visit as well as the Stray cafe or the beach with a bucket and spade.

I'm biased because I grew up here but having been away for 38 years to return and see how amazing the town has become is brilliant.
The regenerated esplanade is fantastic and the beach as always is clean and golden. The view of the coastline without the steel works whilst strange to me, was actually very nice because as iconic as the works were they were a blot on a much underrated piece of England.
I married a southerner so unfortunately I no longer get to visit as often as I'd like but to be honest I could be tempted into divorce just to move back to Redcar.

Extensive sandy beaches, long promenades, delicious fish & chips shops, great for dogs (but NB, the central part of beach bans dogs in summer until 30th September) Archetypal Victorian English seaside resort-town - but sadly dilapidated in many parts, and needing major investment.
Some of the populace along the coastal strip appear to be in a precarious state - and maybe the closure of the main industries in the region over recent decades are the cause of this. Half-a-mile inland is Corporation Road, running roughly parallel to the promenade, with nice houses, a lovely park ( with a dedicated Dog-Shop) - almost a different world to the seafront buildings.
Teesmouth National Nature Reserve nearby, and the Industrial profile of massive structures, in the distance further up the coast. But wildlife is unconcerned about visual aesthetics of course. Lots of wading birds all along the beaches - sanderlings, turnstones -- etc

The Esplanade is pleasant to walk along, with plenty of seating. There are a few amusement arcades but as a seaside resort it is quite low-key.
There are plenty of shops and restaurants -we particularly like the Lemon Tree Thai restaurant. & Daisy May tea rooms. Lots of fish & chip shops, they seem to be round every corner!

We were lucky with sunny weather so we could wander round the town. Great Brazilian cafe for breakfast and lovely Thai restaurant both on the main street.
Interesting to look round the traditional old boats and their matching painted tractors
Shame the vertical pier was closed at the top but nice historical photos on the walk upwards. Do stop at Pacitto's for the local delicacy of lemon top icecream. 😀
It’s a handy location very close to the seafront, shops and restaurants. Decor is quirky and a refreshing change from so many faceless hotels we’ve stayed in lately, but a few impracticalities let the place down. The kitchen is small and basic, though fairly well equipped. The cottage sleeps 4 but thankfully there were only 2 of us as the lounge does not really seat 4. As per another review, the place was really hot when we arrived but we realised after an uncomfortable night that the heating was on 24/7 so we reprogrammed it.
Euro Car Park over the road (read the sign carefully so that you don't get a parking ticket).
We were met by Claire, she could see that we were a little bit lost. The exterior of the hotel hides a surprise. Claire has made her hotel a unique property by her choices of decor. It looks great and is such a refreshing change.
We were a late booking and had planned to stay nearer Durham, but as Bruce Springstein was playing in Sunderland we had to look further away.
The apartment is in a great location to quickly walk anywhere. It is also a great size and comes with some great mod cons. Check in was easy and the communication from the owner was great and made everything simple especially with all the instructions sent ahead for appliances. Though it is in a busy area on the top floor it is nice and quiet. We would definitely stay again and if we return to Redcar.
Loved the apartment! Amazing location, so clean every utensil to cook a full meal, had my daughter, her children and partner round, and was so nice to host, didn't even realise it was 2 bedroom till we got there so the price was brilliant, thank you, will definitely stay again, when we come back to Redcar
Room was perfect. Well decorated and stocked with everything you'd need. Really charming space and everything was very clean.
I came for a wedding nearby and am so happy with my choice. If anyone is looking for a place to stay in Redcar or the surrounding area I'd highly recommend here!
It felt like a boutique hotel, very modern facilities sympathetically a placed in a very old building . Great breakfast and so nice to have my gluten allergy catered for ( often places remove breakfast items without giving a replacement but not here 😁)
Abbey guest house is well situated in Redcar. I was warmly welcomed by Steve even though I was late in checking in. The room was well equipped with an en-suite bathroom which was great. Breakfast the following morning was comprehensive and well cooked.
Great location to explore the north yorkshire moors, the beach is nice. Host was great and friendly and the house was tucked away behind the high street with lots of shops within walking distance. Nice touch the biscuits milk etc left for us
Great location near public transport, the sea and town centre. Warm welcome, efficient check-in and a comfortable stay. Friendly staff that gave all info needed and then stood back to allow a quiet stay. Just what was needed. Thank you.
Not a great deal to say other than the hotel was exactly as described, breakfasts were tasty and generous, communications were excellent as was the location for exploring Redcar and the nearby coastline. Highly recommended!
We had a room with a sea view, which was a clean room, and was well maintained.
Staff were friendly and helpful, and always polite.
Food was of a good quality and very consistent in its presentation.
Loved everything about the room was good size beds were so comfy we will be back we come to redcar regular but we will definitely be staying here again ray couldn't do more to help .
