Set in a converted cluster of fisherman’s houses along Portree Harbor the hotel offers plenty of character and quirks. There are 17 bedrooms with attached bathroom with all expected facilities.

Magical and secluded location, delicious breakfast and dinner, extremely comfortable bed, accommodating staff, and beautifully decorated rooms with well-stocked amenities. We loved our stay, despite the higher price point, Monkstadt is a charming gem full of history! If we're ever back in Skye, we will definitely look to stay at Monkstadt again. Highly recommended!

A location for myths, legends and beautiful nature.
A location for myths, legends and beautiful nature.
Things to see and do:
1. Plunge your face in the water under Sligachan Bridge for a faerie blessing.
2. Hike up to the old man of Storr.
3. Go to the top of the Bride Veil's Falls and drink a sip for good luck.
4. Visit Talisker (Book months in advance for a distillery tour), but the visitor shop is worthwhile regardless - you can engrave a bottle or draw your own bottle from a cask yourself without a tour.
We spent more time in the surrounding areas than the actual town itself, special sites and nature. The town itself is good for a night or two, but I'd focus my efforts on the landscape of Skye instead of the inside of the shops of Skye.
Be sure to factor in opening times for certain restaurants. Most places have a "no booking" policy, so you can expect to stand in line when wanting to eat out at the recommended places.
Spots to eat that we tried:
- The Lower Deck Seafood (Queue 30min before opening time) located on the harbour side.
- The Isles Inn (Walk-in 30min before you're hungry) with live music almost every night around 21:00ish.
Spots for great coffee:
Talisker - just outside they have Caora Dhubh Coffee Company. Worth the coffee itself if you're after the best cup of coffee in Skye.

Portree is lovely.
Portree is lovely. We visited in early may and the crowds were mostly manageable. I would be a little concerned in the heart of the season. My suggestion to the powers that be would be to consider shuttle busses to the popular sites from centralized collection points; discourage rental cars from driving to the sites independently in some way. The small roads and on-site car parks can become overly crowded. We couldn't get near Quiraing for the traffic on the winding one lane road. In all other respects, Skye and Portree are lovely and a pleasure to visit.

I only spent one night in Portree so my judgement is limited. Even before the tourist season started, it was quite crowded. I can’t imagine what it must be like at the height of the season. Skye is lovely but expensive compared to other locations in Scotland.

Skyelight Apartment is at a great location, very near to...
Skyelight Apartment is at a great location, very near to Portree town centre, maybe 1-minute walk. Nicely furnished, warm and cozy. Note though there is no washing machine. Otherwise, a wonderful accommodation.
Location was very good. Easy to walk to restaurant s and shops. Breakfast was good with home made items and plenty of options. Had off street parking. The hosts Andy and Liam were great, very friendly and a virtual font of useful information that helped us a lot to maximize our enjoyment of Skye. The room was quiet with a comfortable bed and a well equipped bathroom with an excellent shower. Only place we stayed in Scotland that had USB chargers in outlets to charge iPhones. This was a great place to stay in Portree.
Fantastic location, right in the centre of Portree near the harbour and bars/restaurants. The apartment was clean and comfortable, great to have use of the washing machine (and powder left for us) as we had a few mucky items from our day trips. Spacious double bedroom, corner sofa which pulls out into a large sofa bed. It was perfect for the dogs too as we didn't want to take them to a hotel. It's usually alot more expensive to find dog friendly accommodation but the price for this apartment was very reasonable.
A lovely hotel, one of the best we have stayed so far, The breakfast was fabulous, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The guy at reception went out of his way to find information for us. We had a family room and a double for the 5 of us which which were very comfortable and well serviced. We had no problems with parking. The hotel conveniently situated within waking distance to Portree town. The hotel is highly recommended. Isle of Skye is beautiful, a pity our stay was all too short.
Lovely friendly welcome awaited us at the Creagory in Portree. The room was lovely at the back of the house, very quiet and spotless.
Great selection for breakfast and tasty!! Selection offered would put some large hotels to shame.
Slept like a log both nights we stayed bed very comfy but must have been that fresh Highland air. We were at an music festival in the centre of Portree and the Creagory was ideally placed as only ten minute walk from the front.
Would definitely recommend and stay again.
The room was comfortable and clean with nice amenities. It was well located to shops and restaurants in Portree. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The first morning after checking in, we were starting out very early and I wouldn't have time to eat breakfast at the hotel. I was told that I could go and choose items from the buffet to take with me to eat. I was very happy and thankful as that helped me to get through the morning until we had a chance to stop and get something to eat.
Staff were excellent, very friendly at both the reception and serving breakfast. Had some good tips about where to visit in Isle of Skye.
Rooms were clean (I was a bit hesitant as the hotel allows dogs but no dirt in the room!)
Big bathroom
Great location in Portree, on-site parking is very handy.
I like the interior design and viking-esque dining room, nice place to have breakfast.
Breakfast was great, no issues, great service
I would definitely stay here again!
Out of all of our beautiful stays on our trip to Scotland, this one was our favorite. We had a delicious breakfast delivered to our room each morning and enjoyed our tea with a view right from our room. Our hosts were so kind and offered history and suggestions on what to do and where to eat in the area. The walk into town was short and scenic! We loved meeting Alex & Alan's dog Oatie too! Thanks for a wonderful stay in Portree.
The location of the hotel was perfect, being right on the harbour front and having scenic views throughout the Portree bay. The staff at the hotel reception (Rosedale Hotel) were incredibly friendly and also helped with recommendations for the surrounding area. The accessibility for Wi-Fi and TV in the room was very nice to have and only added to the comfort of the stay.
Wonderful family cottage near Portree; surrounded by nature. The room is superb. Everything well thought out in the smallest details. Homemade and well made breakfast. The hostess Georgia was extremely friendly and helpful. There would not be a better option. Place to park in the house and free of charge. Superior to many 4 and 5 star hotels I have stayed in Scotland.
We have been travelling and overnighting in Scotland for just over a week staying in very good locations and accommodations.
In addition to the beauty of the Isle of Skye Portree Guest House has been our favourite - Mike made us feel so welcome and is an amazing host. We loved our stay there - would definitely recommend.........and breakfast was just the best!
This is a very comfortable hotel is great location overlooking the harbour of Portree. Wonderful views of the nearby mountains. A good base to explore this wonderful island. The room and facilities were excellent. The staff professional, accommodating and very friendly. The food was of a very good standard and there was a good choice of wines.
There was a lot of plus points about this hotel and our stay was perfectly adequate and in an especially good location. Comfortable beds, nice view over the harbour. Good breakfast and really pleasant lady waiting tables. Given the high cost of some hotels in Skye, this one was better value for money.
This is an amazing gem nestled in the Skye hills, It is a short drive to Fairy Glen and Portree. The rooms are very nicely furnished along with a very comfortable bed with quality linens and towels. The attention to detail is what sets this place a jewel above other Bed and Breakfasts.
Room was spacious, quiet, very clean, with a very nice, comfortable bed. Good-working smart TV, Breakfast was fabulous and we were grateful for getting it in the room, until 10:00 am. Staff were great too. All in all a very nice experience in a hotel in a quiet location in Portree.
Beautiful B&B near Portree on the Island of Skye. Terrific location about a mile outside the bustle of Portree. Lovely room and bath. Great hot breakfast each day. The owners are on site and wonderful. good value compared to other places on Skye.
The location of the hotel was superb....probably the best in Portree. It was also close to restaurants and a small supermarket. The staff were very pleasant and helpful
Location, the staff, breakfast, parking. This was our final stop after driving the NC500. Easy access in and out of Portree. Good base for exploring Skye.
