We had a comfortable one night stay in the Porthtowen Studio as we walked the SWCP. Located on the hillside neighborhood above Porthtowen beach it was quiet and peaceful. The bottom bunk was a bit tight for two but manageable. The kitchen was adequate. Easy self check in.
For those on foot there is an easy street/public pathway on Sandy Road that will lead you safely to the beach/amenities of town.

I stayed at this hotel for one night and had a wonderful experience. The staff were exceptionally helpful and made sure all our needs were met. The room was well-equipped, and the bathroom was notably modern and spacious. The carpet and bed were clean and spotless, which made for a very comfortable stay. I highly recommend this hotel for its quality facilities and attentive service.
We had to book a family room as all other options were sold out and we didn't have alternative options, which was expensive for us.
Located just off the A30 in Camborne, the 3-star Tyacks Hotel is a charming 18th-century coaching inn in the center of Cornwall’s mining heritage area. It offers home-cooked meals and friendly staff.

A lovely stop while walking the SWCP path. Our hosts were very welcoming. Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The hotel is well styled throughout with common areas that you want to hang out in. Our breakfast was delicious with a good variety of options. The hotel offers a before 6pm happy hour, which was fun.
Given its location outside of town, patrons should consider grabbing a bite to eat (lunch or dinner as breakfast is provided) before arriving at the hotel. There are no restaurants within immediate walking distance (town is about 1 mile away).
For folks walking the SWCP it is best to approach the hotel from the trail vs the main road from town. The main road has limited shoulder space making it a bit dangerous given the speeding cars. There are public paths available, which makes approaching/departing much easier.

Fond memories of holidaying in Porthtowan throughout the 70s and 80s with our parents. It really hasn't changed that much and I'd highly recommend Porthtowan for the most wonderful holiday. Beautiful beach with a hidden rock pool, great for surfing and sunbathing. Great amenities with a great beach shop, ice cream parlour, cafe, beach bar, two pubs serving great food, chippy and village store. Also a great base for exploring local resorts too.

Beautiful beach with a few shops.
Beautiful beach with a few shops. Perfect for sunsets. 2 great bars with food and all the staff we had the pleasure of speaking with were so friendly.
Great parking at the beach.
Good roads to take you other places such as Falmouth and St. Ives. with incredible views if you take the smaller roads.
Restrictions on dogs on the beach meaning happy time for everyone!
Lovely cliff top walk across to Chapel Porth passing Great Wheal Charlotte en route with a nice cafe and lovely ice cream!
It could be said, that it's a steep walk back up to the holiday home depending on your health.

Childhood holiday memories of a wonderful place.
Childhood holiday memories of a wonderful place. Porthtowan did not disappoint 30 odd years later. We ate out twice at the Victory Inn, highly recommended. We drove to St Agnes and Perranporth and enjoyed reminiscing on Porthtowan beach.

The beaches at Porthtowan, Portreath and Gwithian were easy to get to and park. Good places to eat was the Victory Inn at Towan Cross, Bassett Arms at Portreath, and Trevaskis Farm, Connor Downs. Heartlands is worth a visit, great surf lessons at Gwithian surf academy.
