The Celyn, hotel in Pont Newydd

Surrounded by Brecon Beacons National Park, The Celyn is a bed and breakfast set within a 300 acre working farm in the beautiful county of Monmouthshire.

Location, ambience and hospitality. Located within a huge sheep farm, we felt we were as cut off from the bustling city as we wanted to be. Sarah was traveling but her dad, Collin was a wonderful host regaling us with his stories and the history of the place

The Kings Head Hotel, hotel in Pont Newydd

The Kings Head Hotel is a former coaching inn set on the edge of Brecon Beacons National Park, in the historic market town of Abergavenny.

Great location in the town centre. The hotel was affordable and exactly what we needed, nothing fancy. They were able to provide us with a vegan breakfast (even though it's not on the menu). We'd stay here again.

Ty Llew Lodge, hotel in Pont Newydd

Featuring quiet street views, Ty Llew Lodge in Abergavenny features accommodations and a bar.

The host is so kind, and the area is beautiful. I stayed in Abergavenny during Green Man so that I could take the shuttle from there, and as a solo female traveller, I never felt unsafe. Everyone is so quiet and kind. The single room was very comfy, and the view was spectacular. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

The road to this property is exceptionally narrow and unlit.

The road to this property is exceptionally narrow and unlit. Only the width of one (small) car. As the nearest towns (Crickhowell and Abergavenny) are a good 5 miles away be aware that if you eat out at night you will be driving back in scary conditions. Not for the nervous driver. The property itself is sublime and the views are incredible. If the weather is good then ask to take breakfast on the terrace to fully appreciate.

Magical beauty, have to be fit to walk in the hills, but there are plenty of more accessible walking opportunities. Good walking shoes are essential. Crickhowell is a charming town with lovely shops and restaurants. Taxi is affordable, can manage without driving. If you are lucky up in the mountains, there are wild horses: an unforgettable experience in contact with untouched nature!
