*Great food - Local Thai / TJ's Restaurant / Grand Central / Henry's Bar (honorable mention to Scoffs - great for a cone of chips, but not that nice to sit in and eat)* **Paignton Pleasure Cruises offer a great ferry service between Torquay and Brixham, calling at Paignton in both directions. Way nicer than a bus trip, only a pound more than the bus AND drops you off in arguably a better location in all 3 towns!** +Go throw some axes at Leisure 2,000 - arcade setup. they're plastic (so it's safe, even after a drink)!+ **Players Cocktail Bar - great selection of cocktails, lovely staff, amazing place to watch the world pass by, but if people don't use the town will lose it unfortunately

Know Paignton very well as my parents have lived there for 25 years. Paignton is as lively as you want it to be. If you want noise & fun, its all there, but there are quieter spots aswell if thats preferable. Spoilt for choice with dining and drinking. Recently shut Lidl's, which is a shame as Paignton lacks a large supermarket.

Everyone was friendly in shops restaurants.

Everyone was friendly in shops restaurants. It was busy wherever we went but people were still friendly. Some places had already closed for the winter which shocked me as we aren't even at the end of September yet but there was still plenty of places to go to eat or drink.

Paignton is a beautiful holiday town.

Paignton is a beautiful holiday town. There is a great bus service to areas such as Brixham, Torquay and more. Perfect for a family holiday. Henry's does the best pub food in the paignton and the best cafe is Chandlers.

We really enjoy our stay, there could have been a little more choice of nice restaurants in the area. We struggled to get in the 2 Italian ones, which left your typical pub grub fare places, which were fine. We did visit the Thai restaurant up the road past the station which was a gem, excellent food.

Town a bit sad ( as are many) with quite a few closed shops.

Town a bit sad ( as are many) with quite a few closed shops. Seafront fine but town very tired. Very little by way of 'good quality' restaurants especially for British style food (but OK if you want chips with everything...!). It's on a frequent coastal bus route ( Brixham - go to the superb and free Heritage museum and Torquay in yhe other direction) so, once there, the car stayed parked.

Breakfast was excellent so much choice to choose from English fry to cereals, fruit and cooked freshly was superb, having a fridge and cool fan in the bedroom for this time of the year in July was excellent!!! Friendly family run hotel, Molly was nice and cute dogs. Location is like my second home, where my Grandparents lived in Paignton so I've been visiting Paignton since I was a child of eight years old. I love the hotel right near the beach, Vue Cinema and town. It has everything here! I'd definitely recommend staying here.

This is a brand new hotel in a great location on the seafront, offering excellent quality at very reasonable cost. The staff are friendly and attentive. The bedrooms are well designed and, to my eye, more stylish than other chain hotels. Most importantly, the beds are extremely comfortable (unlike the Hilton!). Mercury Paignton is now my favourite hotel for work stays in Torbay.
