The views out every window and even the sky/roof lights were amazing! We loved everything about the cabin, the location, the kitchen, bathroom, deck, and the hosts!
Located in Minehead and with Dunster Castle reachable within 6.9 miles, The Rest and Be Thankful Inn has a bar, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and water sports facilities.

The season hadn't got going yet so it was a bit quiet. For us that's OK. Like many towns it seemed to be suffering from the economical downturn. Otherwise it seems to be a friendly place. We found the Duke of Wellington and it was friendly and lively place with reasonably priced meals and beers.
The little steam railway was delightful as was our visits to Lynmouth and Porlock and the Valley of the rocks.

Minehead town centre does have it's 'characters' most of whom frequent the Wetherspoons for obvious reasons. The quay and seafront was lovely in the evening sunshine and we found a fabulous pub called the 'Kildare Lodge Hotel'. Not at all what you would expect, a beautiful 'Arts and Crafts' building with amazing interior plus the bonus of having 3 real ales on tap (they are in the 2024 Good Beer Guide). A visit to Dunster Castle is a must plus a trip on the West Somerset Railway and a walk on Exmoor! Minehead is a good base for all these activities!

Minehead is a very traditional sort of seaside resort, which is perfect if that's what you are looking for. Based mostly around the huge Butlins site and the West Somerset Railway, there's not a great deal else to do, though the surrounding countryside is pretty special. Facilities in town are what you'd expect - some takeaways, simple restaurants, touristy type shops, etc, but it's not somewhere for hard-core shoppers.

We loved the laid back atmosphere.
We loved the laid back atmosphere. The high street was busy with a diverse variety of shops, restaurants and cafes. The Victorian town is beautiful. Lots of lovely architecture, walks and a beautiful park. Also a nice beach which was a bonus. We would recommend you investigate all the little side streets for hidden gems. Also very dog friendly.

Minehead is a good beach resort and a central starting point for exploring Somerset and particularly Exmoor as a path starts a short walk from the Hotel.
The West Somerset steam railway is the longest standard gauge heritage line at 21 miles taking a full hour each way through pretty well kept stations and is only a short walk along the front the hotel.

Mine head, it’s a very small town, very quiet and peaceful clean tidy always walk somewhere to park. You have steam train you can ride on amusements a few decent pubs in quite a lot of places would eat the choice is yours. Beach is clean and tidy at all times of the year as I have been there maybe 12 times within the last three years great for kids and also for pets
The Waverley is a short walk from the Minehead Railway Station (now home to West Somerset Railway) and bus stop. As travellers using public transport the location is excellent and it is only a short walk to shops, cafes and hotels and the harbour. The breakfast selection is excellent and well presented. Our hosts and their staff were friendly and engaging, always smiling and willing to help in any way. Our room was large enough that we were not cramped, it was clean and comfortable with a matching large ensuite.
This is a lovely clean, and spacious apartment that is a credit to the owners. We had the ground floor flat which is a step free 2 minute walk to the seafront. There is access to a pretty communal outdoor courtyard. The location is in a quiet street only a few hundred yards to Minehead town centre where there are many bars, restaurants, and takeaways. On the seafront is the start/finish marker for the south west coastal path, 600 miles or so to Poole.
The hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful, I had my 2 small grandchildren with me and was on the top floor and the head chef came out and carried my bags up to the Room .. the food was lovely and cooked very well not a fraction of a complaint. One of my daughter's live in Minehead and I will be staying here again and again.. now found a nice place to stay will be back bi-monthly
The Duke of Wellington Minehead is an excellent hotel and super value. The staff were friendly and highly competent. Parking on street is available nearby and there are also official sites close by. The hotel in style is broadly of a time gone by with huge rooms. That does NOT detract from its services. Rooms are clean, secure and the breakfast is very good as anyone who uses a Wetherspoons knows.
Good location, a short walk from the centre of town and to the seafront. The hotel staff are very friendly and evidently exceptionally competent and committed to doing the best job they possibly can. Room was a little dated but was very spacious and the bed very comfortable. Excellent value for money, especially considering I booked only two days prior to arriving.
We were greeted in the car park on arrival by Mark (owner). He helped with luggage, showed us to our room and checked that had everything we needed.
The location is superb, only a few yards from the seafront.
Although the menu is not extensive the food was tasty, nicely cooked and presented. Pricing is realistic.
Staff were helpful and friendly.
If you like peace & quiet set in tranquil rural Somerset then this is an absolute must. Residing next to a beautiful picturesque stream & ford is a must see. The property reminds me of rural France & Italy. The Pack Horse is in a perfect location for exploring the coastline from Watchet/ Minehead to Ilfracombe in North Devon.
Probably one of the best B&B's I have ever stayed in!. The owners, Sharon & Paul were a delightful couple, very friendly and welcoming and their attention to detail would put a five star hotel to shame and the breakfast was amazing. This accommodation should be a role model for hotel training.
We travelled to Minehead for the golden retriever experience and wanted to make a weekend out of it. We couldn’t of picked a better hotel with perfect location to shops, beach, arcades, restaurants, town centre to hot and continental breakfast included which we enjoyed!
Breakfast was amazing - delicious food, with a large number of choices where you can pick exactly what "Full English" means for you. Lovely dining room, and an amazing location opposite Blenheim Gardens. Walkable to many restaurants, pubs and the seafront.
A well run hotel and pub.
Within walking distance of Exmoor tops and Dunkery Beacon.
Staff friendly and food excellent.
Covid measures excellent
Nice to know you can have a good evening meal rather than be looking around or going into Minehead
The hotel provided us with all we wanted for our two night stay; a friendly welcome, attentive members of staff, really good well presented food and a convenient location for walking the coastal path and into the town centre.
Lovely house in a great location, just a short walk from the sea front and town centre amenities. Very well equipped and just a lovely 'feel' to the house. Great communications from the owner, who was very responsive.
Clean, friendly and helpful owners. Perfectly located for where I needed to be.... If you have an issue regarding a breakfast there are plenty of wonderful places a short walk or car ride in Minehead centre..
The room was extremely clean, spacious and nicely decorated. Location was ideal for the seafront and town centre. Owner very friendly and checked in on us to see if everything was ok.
Location great. Breakfast was really nice.Hotel exceeded expectations. I would have preferred to have been on the lower floor but the room we had was ok albeit a bit high up
