Not only was The Lion a wonderful location to explore the Cotswolds (and close to Stratford-upon-Avon) it was cute, quaint and so cozy. Mark (the owner) was incredibly nice and we loved our stay at his property. I can't say enough good things! He also helped us carry our luggage up the stairs. Rooms are small, but well decorated and comfortable. We had dinner at the pub and it was delicious!

Great location from which to start the Cotswold Way. The largest bathroom I have seen in Europe; with a tub and shower. Clean comfortable room. Lovely dining room for dinner and breakfast. So much character.

The property is a stunning step into an historic era. Parts of the hotel are 600 years old. Our room was modern and clean with a private patio. The staff was outstanding. Shout out to Rebecca, our server for 2 memorable meals. I’m not a spa person but the facilities were gorgeous! We really felt we booked the best hotel in the Cotswolds.

The exterior of the hotel is gorgeous as are the grounds. The interior is also quite nice. Some things are tired, but others are really impressive (like the moulding in the dining room). Most of the staff was attentive and friendly.

Great Location to visit Little Oak Vineyard
Mickleton is a nice village. It has an awesome butcher, and a couple of small shops, including a small, if a bit expensive supermarket. It is a busy village and there is quite a bit of through traffic which can make it a bit noisy.
There are a couple of nice pubs, one very much on the tourist route as a stop off. The Butcher's Arms serves mainly pies, burgers and pizza, but has a nice atmosphere. The Kings Arms is more fine dining, however, if you do book for here, do make sure your table is in the restaurant; we were placed in the bar which was loud, packed (people bumped my chair every time they walked past) and is very dog friendly, which is nice, but we had dogs wandering about off lead, barking at other dogs and under the table as we ate. We got moved to the restaurant and the food was excellent.
Mickleton has some wonderful buildings and easy access to the Cotswolds and some nearby Farm shops. Its very welcoming and a relaxed feel,

It was a good base for being nearby to some of the worth visiting cotswolds towns like chipping campden and broadway… it really depends what you want. If you prefer to not use a car whilst you are away then I’d avoid staying in Mickleton as there’s only two pubs and a small morrisons

Local walks available (we used those behind the church), two local pubs (we chose The Kings Arms) and a convenience store (which we didn't require). The location allowed us to visit Chipping Campden, Broadway (including the Tower), and Stow on the Wold (a lovely day out). As well as the walk in Mickleton we also made the short trip to Dovers Hill and further afield to Belas Knap Long Barrow. The location means visits can be made to Stratford, Oxford, Cheltenham and Gloucester
