The staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful throughout, our room was clean and tastefully decorated with everything you could need or want for an overnight stay. We pre-booked a table for dinner on arrival, the food was tasty and well presented. Our server Michelle was very efficient and looked after us well.
Breakfast the following morning was again very nice and well presented, plenty of options and reasonably priced. It was refreshing to see more than just one option on menus for vegetarians and vegans.
All in all a great stay at a very reasonable price. Lovely atmosphere and the staff can’t do enough for you. We would recommend to anyone thinking of booking and we will definitely visit again in the future!

4 decent rooms, 2 bathrooms. All worked OK. Liked the proximity to walks, river, pubs, cafes, restauranmts of Matlock Bath. Also excellent bus and train links to nearby towns.

Amazing base for a holiday. I flew into Manchester, called into Lyme hall as you pass it, there's little brown signs to follow everywhere.
Pass through Ashford and Bakewell, stunning.
Matlock is larger, every amenity, beautiful park, great shops. There's a lovely river up to the Tor walk with amazing views. I couldve stayed longer...

The scenery around Matlock is gorgeous - I would have liked to have explored it further if I had more time. This was a short, intense work trip so I didn't do as much as I would have liked. Matlock as a town looks very pretty but everything shuts, it seems, by 5pm, so it was like a ghost town when I made my way into the centre. Some bars/restaurants were open but they were also quiet. The walk along the river Derwent is lovely, and I enjoyed it after a day spent indoors. I think Matlock is a good base to explore the surrounding countryside but the town itself doesn't have that much to see, unless I missed it all because it was shut!

Matlock has developed into a very nice tourist site with lots to see and do. If you like fish and chips you have a choice of 8 venues all serving good quality food. The river and gardens running through the town provide a nice place to rest and relax. The heights of Abraham are of course the main reason for visiting but all around there are things to do and see.

Everything is within walking distance, there is so much to discover. We even saw a Kingfisher swooping along the river! The person hiring the boats had caught a crayfish! which was another unexpected interesting sight. I love Matlock Bath and usually visit every other year. There is a mining museum in the Pavilion, an unusual Aquarium on the parade and a theme park behind the village. Boating on the river is either a trip with others or you can take a row boat or paddle boat out yourself. Very very interesting and beautiful place.

There's the Peak Steam engine that runs during the day. A brilliant experience but it's not advertised we happened upon it. You hop on an off at various stations but we enjoyed the return trip back to Rowsley Station.

This is a review of Matlock BATH, not Matlock.
This is a review of Matlock BATH, not Matlock. An absolutely wonderful place, seaside, without the sea. Cash is king here so don't rely on cards! Super friendly, full of bikers, motorbikes, not beastly pushbikes! Children and adults will LOVE it. Tons to do, don't miss the quirky aquarium.
Such a great setting for a hotel and location was great for going into Gulliver's Kingdom itself. A few hills that require actual hiking to get up and down them however, worth it when Matlock Bath is down at the bottom (you can also leave in car and return if you can't be bothered with walking). Entertainment was on for the kids in the little clubhouse which was a bonus, the host had heaps of energy and did well keeping everyone engaged.
The breakfast was delicious and a good choice for the three of us who have different tastes. The location was excellent, walkable to Matlock, the Heights of Abraham and Matlock Bath.
Great shower, hot water and fantastic pressure.
Staff were friendly and helpful, they offered us some local recommendations.
Free parking that was guaranteed
Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would stay here again.
Every staff encounter was a pleasure, all polite, friendly and welcoming.
The hotel and grounds are beautiful.
1 mile to Matlock bath and 2 miles to Matlock.

The staff make the hotel.
The whole experience at this Hotel and Matlock Bath was excellent, we would definitely recommend going and staying here service food was fabulous, so clean a must thankyou.
