As we walked up the road from the ferry and saw the Inn ahead, it was like being in a fairytale(or a Rosamunde Pilcher novel for those who know her work!). We arrived early and were greeted with kindness by those who were busy in the kitchen, Rodney, and just completing cleaning, Dawn. Both made us feel welcome and we were given early access to our room. We later met Sandra and Claire who always had a smile and were most capable and kind. The staff in the restaurant included Josh who was helpful in selecting a good gin or whiskey selection. All in all, the staff were as lovely as the Inn and the idyllic setting overlooking a pristine field of sheep with the exquisite views beyond.

Well organized and thought out. The glass door facing the sea, briliant and private. Nice deck, very responsive host who also provided excellent taxi info in advance. Amazing beach access at low tide 10 walk down the hill.

Gorgeous part of the Highlands with good transport links ! Ferries and Trains ! The train journey is spectacular and worth every Penny and minute of the 5 hours from Glasgow or 2 hours plus from Fort William … I’m not a train spotter by any means or a Harry Potter fan but this journey as always been on my travel bucket list and did not disappoint!
Good bar / restaurant … great value great food at the top of the hill and friendly locals !! Be aware as you’d expect not a lot open in the depths of winter!! But enough and how I personally like it !!

Mallaig is at its heart an old fishing town which has seen that part of its self-image eroded by the economics of fisheries across the land. Meanwhile it has become popular because of the steam railway and Harry Potter. Though this has improved the economy it feels like the place begrudges this new found dimension and would prefer to revert to its quieter fish-focussed past. Some of the restaurants feel like they are profiteering - £11 for 4 tiny pieces of salt and pepper squid slapped on the table is indicative. Overpriced dishes and underwhelming service. Is it me or do the staff in the hostelries and shops project an air that says they've had enough and want to scuttle off for their own vacation? They need to decide to up their game or move over for someone with more stamina, energy and understanding of customer service. Not somewhere for which I will hold fond memories. The exception to all this is the host of the pod who was bright and cheerful and could not be more helpful.

Plenty of places to eat. Mallaig gets busy when the steam train(think Harry Potter) from Fort William arrives.
Surprisingly, many shops were closed on Saturday morning.
Great smoked fish and shellfish from Andy Race fish merchant, but shop not open on Saturday.

It has all the bustle of a busy ferry and fishing port.
It has all the bustle of a busy ferry and fishing port. It has a huge number of cafes, restaurants and tourist facilities. Great rail and road communications. Lovely circular walk above the town - great views.
The Marina is adorable boutique hotel right next to the train station. My room was a small clean white sunny room overlooking the train depot and the sea. Note that my beautiful room was in the top floor, so I needed help getting my larger suitcase up the narrow stairs. The couple running the hotel are sweet, accommodating and hardworking. They’re still working to provide more features to the hotel (like a bar) and it’ll be spectacular when finished.
Location is great right in the heart of Mallaig. The Inn seems to be one of the main social venues in the village and was full of locals and tourists which gave it a nice vibe. The dinner menu has a superb variety of dishes available at reasonable prices. My group of friends (18 of us) all enjoyed our evening meal and drinks there. Very handy location for a stop over if getting the ferry to or from Armadale on Skye. Breakfast was ok too.
Probably the biggest hotel in Mallaig. It sits atop a wee hill with a large outdoor terrace and sun room overlooking the coast. The Isles of Eigg , Rum and Skye clearly in sight both from the front of the hotel and our room. Breakfast room was large and spacious with sea views and the grub was braw with tasty black and haggis puddings and all the usual stuff youd expect.
Donald was very welcoming on arrival .As we got there very late for check in time and
understanding. He also gave us a room upgrade which was lovely of him. As he didn't know this but,
we were on are honeymoon and on are last stay in Scotland which made it special thank you.
Seaview is a lovely place to stay and 10/10 for our room. Thank you.
The location is great, a very short stroll to the small centre of Mallaig. There's parking for everyone right by your pod. The pod was very clean and comfortable, with everything like new. Small but well laid-out so nothing felt cramped. Lovely view of the coast sat on the front porch, even a view of the steam train going by!
Great location in Mallaig. Rooms were clean and attractively presented with en suite shower and toilet. It was an old hotel so had no lift, but the stairs were manageable. Dinner in the bar was very pleasant and the staff went out of their way to provide a hot breakfast at 8 am so that we could catch the ferry to Skye.
everything was perfect. Good location, friendly hostess, hostess very helpful and answered all questions. I walked from Mallaig to Glenfinnan Viaduct and the Isle of Skye, so perfect base. I was even allowed to leave my things there after checking in, which was very nice for me. Pure recommendation!
Perfect size and location, had everything we needed. They even provided oat milk for tea when I messaged to say we were vegan! We only stayed a few nights but feel like we got a lot out of Mallaig - and would definitely come back 😊
The location was incredible - right in the middle of Mallaig next to the port and all the restaurants. It was fun that the flat is an old bank - it gave it additional charm! It was such a comfortable place to stay in Mallaig.
Locaed in the centre of Mallaig, close to shops, pubs and restaurants, also train station and ferry terminal.
Room was basic, with clean bedding and heating that works very well.
Would stay again!
100 meters from the ferry terminal.
Rooms, bathrooms and kitchen were clean.
All the restaurant and pubs of Mallaig are within a 3 min walk range from the place.
