Location, easy access and owner left the porch light on for us! Very communicative and responsive. We enjoyed meeting him when the dryer stop spinning. He came over & replaced dryer right away so we could finish drying our wet laundry & get on the road. Great service! Thank you John!! Look forward to stopping in again on our next trip to the Isles.

Magherafelt is a bustling little town in Mid-Ulster.
Magherafelt is a bustling little town in Mid-Ulster. Hard to believe the population is less than 10000 - it certainly FEELS bigger; traffic is busy and there is a supriseingly good array of shops and eateries.
Not a lot to see in the actual town, although it's pleasant enough. But the Sperrin Mountains are close by and Lough Neagh is only a few miles away. And the Seamus Heaney Centre is only three miles away, in Bellaghy. Belfast and Derry and within easy reach, as are Portrush, with its magnificent beaches, and the Giant's Causeway.
There are buses to Ballymena, Antrim and Cookstown. And you can catch a bus to the Castledawson Park& Ride to hop on buses to Belfast, Derry and even Dublin. The town itself isvquite compact; although there is a town service, it's easy enough to walk around.
Lots of places to eat; we tried Slim's, Bob & Berts and the Inperial Palace(Chinese) - all highly satisfactory. Istanbul does a nice chicken kebab. And Ditty's in Castledawson, two miles away, is good for breakfast, lunches or just a cup of coffee. Don't forget to take home a loaf of their amazing brown wheaten bread! There sre many other tempting-looking places to grab a bite - these are just a few we've tried. Interestingly, Magherafelt came 3rd in a 2021 Sunday Times list of Best Places to Live in Northern Ireland, and it's easy to see why

Although it is a lovely spot with very decent choice of small guest houses and restaurants, but also of really welcoming and charming locals and residents.
Please, please be aware of a female parking warden, who is a real temperamental b***tch. Last time when in Magherafelt I got fined for parking (not longer than 10min.) on a loading bay during dropping goods to a local restaurant (Sizzling Smokehuse on Market Street).

Great break from the “hustle & bustle” of Belfast & Derry.
Great break from the “hustle & bustle” of Belfast & Derry. Visited Springhill Plantation Manor House (1600’s) & Slieve Gallion (Taller Mountainous Area) Did Ancestry Research, as Well in Moneymore area.
It is a lovely spacious accommodation set in a rural area just a few miles from Magherafelt, and with all the facilities one needs for an overnight stay. (A few minutes drive takes you to a Spar grocery shop).
I was very impressed with the kitchen facilities, lovely bedroom and en-suite, and spacious living room with table and chairs. There is an outside space for barbecue and/or smokers.
I’d definitely stay again, much better than a hotel and certainly more affordable.
Fantastic communication right from the off when I made my booking.
The host was absolutely lovely and met us on arrival at the house, showed us all around and I was very pleased with my booking. Also a great touch a basket with essentials tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, milk which was a great help
Location was perfectly placed for getting to Magherafelt only 5 minutes away, peaceful and beautiful view of the town, countryside and mountain.
Everything at the Brooke Lodge Guesthouse was exceptional and first rate. Our room was spacious, clean, modern, and comfortable. The cook- to- order breakfast in the morning was delicious and plentiful. Martina and Eamon, our hosts, were friendly and knowledgeable and went out of their way to ensure our comfort. Future visits to Northern Ireland will always include stays at The Brooke Lodge Guesthouse.
Modern, lovely decor, milk & eggs in fridge which was a lovely touch, especially as I love a cup of tea in the morning (and we arrived so late the night before) spotless clean, everything we needed. Oh, and a great power shower and netflix! The hosts were very friendly and generous with their time. The location was couple of miles from the two of Magherafelt, and was well signposted. A little gem!
Breakfast was outstanding and served with a smile. We phoned for a taxi to take us to a party we were up to attend and none were available for around half an hour, so rather than have us wait we were given a lift in to Magherafelt which was above and beyond and very much appreciated. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here. *****
3 bedrooms with 4 beds including 3 double beds. Easy check in and check out. Judith in the restaurant was super helpful.and friendly and organised a table after we returned from watching Scotland play football at a pub in Magherafelt.
It was a lovely family friendly hotel. Room was spacious and beautiful cake or buns every night with a cup off coffee. Wonderful welcoming family run guesthouse. Will definitely be returning in the very near future.
Spotlessly clean, very quiet and comfortable, and an easy walk into Magherafelt. Breakfasts were delicious and there was plenty of options to choose from. The hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating.
The hotel owner was very friendly, the staff were all very helpful and friendly. The restaurant was very nice and food was excellent. The room was very comfortable and clean and the shower was very good.
Perfect location on the main road into Magherafelt. Our room was absolutely beautiful, as is the whole house and the breakfast was fantastic. Geraldine and Eugene were the perfect hosts.
