Looking at other comments it would appear a lot of people expect an independent hotel to be comparable to a glass and steel corporate! Our room as perfectly good with a modern bathroom and very clean. We took our dog and had a room with direct access to outside which was a bonus!

Lowestoft is a busy working port. It has stunning beaches with golden sands.
We have family who chose to live there so we are lucky enough to visit them often.
We are wildlife lovers so there are so many places to visit a ride away like Minsmere and Carlton Marshes and the Norfolk coast.
The trip boat for Oulton Broad goes from right outside the Wherry Hotel and smaller boats can be hired.

Lowestoft is a traditional seaside town.
Lowestoft is a traditional seaside town. A beautiful beach south of the town, great for bathing, games and walks, and a beach north of the town that is more scenic but inaccessible due to the tides and ruined old sea wall. Loads of local attractions to visit including Africa Alive, the Transport museum, Sparrows Nest Park, Oulton Broad and Claremont Pier. Some great restaurants to eat at, but especially Sgt Peppers on the High Street. And being the most easterly place in the UK, make sure you get up early to see the sun rise. Spectacular on a clear morning!

Lovely seaside town with harbour and river interest.
Lovely seaside town with harbour and river interest. They have special hotels for the Kittiwakes out at sea and a colourful pier. Oulton Broad provides some lovely lake views and sunsets with boats and kids play park. It is a great destination for the family and only a short ride away.
Lowestoft has long promenade with cycle lane and gardens and nice cafes.
The beaches are stunning with golden sands and beach huts.
There is a good bus service around the coast to Southwold, a gem, and Great Yarmouth.

Interesting seaside town.
Interesting seaside town. South Beach was perfect plenty of places to eat. The town centre altho big seemed a bit tired but the beach and front area had a buzz about it. The port side of it made it interesting too
Does what is says on the tin. Lord Kitchener has you in mind from the start. It is welcoming, clean and the staff really go that extra mile to make you feel welcome. The Lord Kitchener is just not for Veterans but open to the public. As this perfect location hotel only relies on charity, I feel to keep this important location open, that if you’re considering visiting Lowestoft, please consider this place as far too many private businesses have suffered over the past couple of years, and The Lord Kitchener is no exception.
I had stayed before when the current owners first took over, and stayed in the same room overlooking the sea. Everything I needed was close at hand, an early breakfast so I could go to my cycling event. Hopefully next time I will be able to bring my wife who can enjoy the seafront close by. Facilities are clean and breakfast has variety for those who want cooked breakfasts or something lighter.
Baytree is a quirky, lovely styled guest house, beautifully decorated with a warm welcoming atmosphere. The owner & staff are very friendly & accommodating. As a solo traveller, I felt very comfortable.
The hotel is a stones throw from the beach & large park in a lovely leafy quiet area of Lowestoft. I really enjoyed the continental breakfast & choice of foods. I will definitely rebook.
We have stayed here before. A lovely quiet, comfortable and clean hotel. Room clean, comfortable beds, nice shower. Breakfast was very nice. Quiet place to stay and great location not just for Lowestoft but for surrounding areas too, we visited Great Yarmouth too.
Make sure you discover The Library in the hotel, beautiful little gem of a room for quiet afternoon tea.
A buffet breakfast was included in the price. Plenty of choice and the friendly coffee lady made you welcome.
Food is served virtually all day so we were able to have late lunches.
The hotel itself is a lovely old building with carved wooden staircases and stained glass windows and a dining area looking over the broad.
Excellent. Second stay here. 2 different rooms now, both Humongous with en suites. Exceeds expectations. Can’t speak high enough of the place. Fantastic hosts. Breakfast is one of the best I’ve had. Stayed in many different hotels and Guest houses over the last 2 months with work. This is by far the best by a country mile.
The room was adequate. Very clean. Comfortable bed. The room was being serviced each day - which surprised us as all during the covid year we were told at hotel receptions that no room service was available. So this was a pleasant surprise. The staff were all very friendly. Breakfast buffet was nice.
Breakfasts were very good, and catered for my allergy requirements. The room was spacious and comfortable with a nice glimpse of the sea. I would say that the hotel is located in the the nicer part of Lowestoft (and the beach is beautiful sand). The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
Breakfast is good although a wider selection for continental would be better if you don’t want a cooked breakfast.
The location of the hotel is its selling point, brilliant views from the rooms on the beach side and close enough to hear the waves.
The bar area is nice and comfortable to relax in.
Good location as behind the main hotel which is on the seafront. The main hotel had nice decor, lovely coffee and cake, views of sunrise from public areas.
The hotel is very pleasing.
The room we had in the lodge was quiet and the bed was comfortable.
The TV was large and had a good picture.
The hotel is in a good location for visiting the Suffolk coast, which is what we did the next day.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the view over the lawn (Room 1.) The full English breakfast was well presented, tasty and hot. We will be returning again at some point.
A very pleasant country hotel with lovely gardens surrounding. The only staff member I saw on arrival was a lady who appeared to be waitress, bar lady and receptionist all in one. Although very busy, she remained very pleasant. The breakfast in the morning was again, very pleasant.
As a vegetarian I did wonder whether the hotel would cater to me, they did have vegetarian sausages and the breakfast was very nice. When we go back to Lowestoft for a weekend break we will be going back to the Clyffe Hotel as it was very good value for money.
This hotel was perfect for my needs. I wanted a one-night stop over at a good price while I was working away from home. Staff were helpful and friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. I'd definitely stay there again.
I would say the hotel has the best pillows I have ever had in a hotel! It is in an easy to find location, really nicely decorated. Both dinner and breakfast were very good. The staff were very good. Definitely be returning.
View from the bedroom ... beach, sea and pier !! What a winner! Very attentive and friendly staff with a yummy breakie to boot :-) Definitely recommend this as a base for exploring the area.
In one word...Faultless. I spent many years in the hotel business and this one is brilliant. It ticks every box so if you are in the area give it a try....it wont dissappoint.
