Ardwyn House, hotel in Llanwrtyd Wells

Ardwyn is an artistic guest house built in the early 1900s. It has a creative atmosphere with plenty of arts and crafts.

Roger was a fantastic host and I couldn't be more pleased with my choice. The home is in an idyllic setting. The village is only a few steps away yet sheep are grazing in the pasture across the road. I loved this place! Roger and I had great conversation as well.

The Llanelwedd Arms Hotel, hotel in Llanwrtyd Wells

The Llanelwedd Arms Hotel is located in Builth Wells, just 0.7 miles from the Royal Welsh Showground. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant.

The breakfast was excellent...tastey, local ingredients and with prompt service. We were asked to book the time in advance the night but that was O.K, it enabled us to plan our morning and didn't have to wait to be seated. We were able to have our meals with the dog as we ate in the bar. We had a lovely evening meal from the extensive Thai menu and they were very accomodating. Nice to see the hotel is used by locals and travellers alike and it was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The hotel is only 550 yards from the Showground (we were attending an event there and the reason for our stay), so couldn't be more convenient. It is a beautiful part of the country.

The smallest town in Wales obviously doesn’t have the amenities of a larger town but it is a good base to tour the surrounding area. 3 pubs and a restaurant take care of evening meals and it’s not too far to a couple of larger towns if you can’t find what you want there.

A lovely little town with the river running through it.

A lovely little town with the river running through it. It is very quiet, but seems to have a nice community. We were welcomed at the heritage centre where there was lots of information about the area. Everything is within walking distance, including the station. The convenience store has a good range of food and other articles such as maps. There are several restaurants, tea shops and pubs. For a bit of luxury book a meal at the Drovers Arms, with an Egon Ronay chef, a lovely eveningl. A few miles up the road is The Trout at Beulah which provided great food and drink at a good price, so we went there most nights! We had some lovely walks in the surrounding countryside, there are some fantastic views.

    Brilliant place for walkers.

Brilliant place for walkers. Stunning scenery and loads of information available on different length walks (online or in local establishments). It's a small town but it has a few places to eat and is a great base for anyone active. Caffi Sosban and the Drovers Rest provided us with lovely meals

A lovely old hotel, friendly staff, a change in that a Turkish menu is on offer, lamb shank with rice in place of the usual vegetable side, excellent. Of course the real reason for visiting is the astounding Welsh back roads in the area. Views to die for or die in them if you are stupid.
