We liked the location, facility inside the hotel, the family suite which was having good privacy. The view outside the room was amazing particularly while enjoying the hot tub. Breakfast was good, we enjoyed every bit of it. Plenty of parking space.

The hotel is located alongside the Rive Kent and has the most lovely vibe because of it, even when overcast, rainy and cold. The Reception, breakfast and property staff were helpful, professional, accommodating and excellent to deal with. My room was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean, well appointed and the heated towel rack is wonderful. The bed was comfortable and the bedding is very clean and of a good quality. The breakfast is a highlight ( the Chef made me porridge, no sugar, no cream, just plain hot porridge ) it's possibly the best breakfast overall at a hotel I've had in quite a while. Being in easy walking distance to Kendal high street, associated shopping and eateries, pubs, cafes, local transport, The Riverside makes for an ideal landing pad for visitors and business people alike. I'd love to return for another stay and spend more time in the district exploring the beautiful Cumbrian countryside, villages and towns. Worth noting: the local food, bakery and coffee adds to the daily charm of Kendal.

Top floor quiet room. Smart TV. Nice period building. Good breakfast choice and helpful staff.
lovely place for wedding party,
but noisy wedding guests spoiled the stay for me,
traffic noise was an issue too, as dual carriageway on two sides of the property ,
lovely walks close by
lovely staff too
very good restaurant for dinner and breakfast

The staff were excellent, nice and very helpful.
The staff were excellent, nice and very helpful. Breakfast was average and the evening meals were adequate, but the hotel was lovely as you would expect from a country manor house, very quirky too. The room and especially the bathroom are superb, very cleanly kept too,
Would we go back ?
Probably would, It is expensive but for a special occasion it is somewhere we would consider again.

Levens is a pretty little place, narrow roads and lanes require care though it was not busy. I'd recommend the Hare and Hounds as a great place to eat, good food, friendly staff and reasonably priced.

I used Levens as a base and drove out each day to visit other parts of the Lake District. It’s a good location to get out onto the road and drive to other places. There did seem to be a local bus service but I didn’t use this so I’m not sure how frequent the buses are. I’d suggest that you really do need a car if you’re staying here.
The local area also seemed to have good options for things to do - eg Levens Hall.
Levens is a small, pretty village. The Hare and Hounds has parking so it was easy to park next to where I was staying. The pub is a friendly place to spend time.
I had Sunday dinner and breakfasts at the pub - the food is of a high quality and you can tell that great care is taken in preparing and presenting it. It’s good wholesome food.

With very helpful front desk staff, the ambience was relaxing and comfortable. The quality of the rooms (despite paying the upper price of those available) was ok, not that much better than a Premier Inn just smaller. Water pressure in the shower poor to the point that when inverted, the water flow almost stopped. Lots of unmentioned stairs, no lift, uneven car park. The meals were good (breakfast) to very good (a la carte dinner). Drinks reasonable selection but on the upper level of pricing, de rigueur for this sort of location, but within reason. Television remote wasn't working and the two replacements brought up didn't work either. Easy to find and nicely out of the way. if they were aiming for "shabby chic" they aren't far off.
Fantastic little village hotel serving excellent food. Our room "Prickard" was just what we needed and had all the amenities that we required for our short stay. The cosy little bar with dining area was very quaint and obviously a favourite with the locals. Staff were very welcoming and couldn't do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Food was excellent.
The hotel was in a beautiful setting. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was exceptional, absolutely massive and had some lovely extras in the room on the tea tray. We also had food which was also really good. We actually didn't want to leave and will definitely be back!
the Hare and Hounds is in a quiet part of Levens and was an excellent choice for a short stay.
the evening meal and breakfast were well prepared with plenty of choice.
our room was quiet, spacious and spotlessly clean.
the bar was well stocked.
the staff were excellent.
The staff are amazing, very friendly and helpful.
The room is beautifully set out and of a very high standard .Better than some Lakes 5star hotels we have stayed in.
The food is fantastic both at breakfast and in the evening.
Room was furnished beautifully. All meals excellent and staff so helpful and friendly. Ideally located for Levens Hall topiary gardens and for visiting the lakes. All in all, a perfect stay. Look forward to revisiting.
The hotel is situated in fab grounds not far off the m6 motorway near Kendal. The bedrooms were well equipped and lovely views and windows. Really enjoyed breakfast and dinner in restaurant. Nice and relaxing.
Amazing hotel and fabulous architecture. Grand double staircase in bar area.
Staff were very professional, polite and very helpful.
Great breakfast, continental as well as full cooked options
.
Only problem was we didn't have long enough here so are going to have to re visit. Stayed here but wedding at villa Leven's. Rooms/staff/Breakfast first classing. Nothing not to like thanks
Some of the staff were great and helpful, see below for the opposite.
The driveway, the fields around the hotel look lovely but the building itself looks a bit tatty in places.
We were amongst first guests after lockdown and it was quite obvious that the hotel/staff were in process of opening hotel after a long closure.
Location excellent for lakes.
