Feversham Arms Hotel & Verbena Spa, hotel in Helmsley

In a beautiful setting on the edge of the stunning North Yorkshire Moors, in the pretty market town of Helmsley, this elegant hotel features superb dining options, full spa facilities, and free Wi-Fi....

The staff on the whole were really efficient and the room was gorgeous and the little touches eg lamb for do not disturb, window seat and comfortable bedding, dressing gowns and flip flops and temple spa shampoos etc. The spa was fabulous and really relaxing and made for a fabulous break and I would definitely come again. The restaurant staff - I assume the restaurant manager (didn't get his name) and main bar staff - I think her name was Agnieszka (sorry if I spelt it wrong) were both attentive and personable and made you feel at ease.

The Fairfax Arms, hotel in Helmsley

Located on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, The Fairfax Arms offers 4-star accommodations and a traditional, oak-beamed bar. It has peaceful gardens, and is a 30-minute drive from York.

Breakfast was delicious, served in a very bright airy room with skylights. Room was clean, fairly large, but chilly and had no heat controls. Bathroom had tub/shower but the little glass half-panel didn’t keep shower water off the floor.

Helmsley is a lovely little market town which benefits from a number of independent traders. Make sure to leave enough time to take advantage of this. Some delightful venacular architecture around the town just has to be studied. Don't rush around - take it at your leisure.

This is a lovely market town with individual shops, and friendly staff. We also did a fabulous walk along the Cleveland Way to Rievaulx Abbey and back. There is a diverse choice of restaurants in the square, and several pubs/hotels. We had fabulous food at The Feathers Hotel where we stayed, and Bantams Restaurant.

What a perfect location with so much to see and do within a short distance. Great food establishments in town from the Fish n Chip shop to what we think is the best Indian we've ever visited (& we live close to Bradford). Three lovely pubs that are all different & we even find the locals a friendly bunch too.

Stilworth house is in the heart of Helmsley, an absolutely gorgeous town. Our host Carol was wonderful, the breakfast was amazing. Our room was perfect for us and it's situation in the centre of town meant that we could pop in and drop off any shopping etc. Carol gave us excellent recommendations including things to see and places to eat. We absolutely adored the town and are planning our return (hopefully with other family members!). Can highly recommend this wonderful b&b.

This is the first time we’ve stayed at the Feversham Arms and the hotel on the whole did not disappoint. We managed to get a space in the hotel car park which was a great start given how difficult it is to park in Helmsley. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and we were given a room upgrade which was most welcome. The food in the restaurant was of good quality and the service impeccable. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to enjoy any of the spa facilities.

The Royal Oak at Helmsley is central to the attractive town and a convenient place to explore from. Bearing in mind that this is a modestly priced pub and not a 5-star hotel, I was perfectly statisfied with the facilities and would happily stay again. Similarly for the evening meal of fish and chips - nice and reasonably priced. I would happily go again.

The location within a five minute walk of Helmsley market place was excellent. The room furnishings were in real wood rather than the MDF type found in most hotels and matched the mid 19th century building which was very well presented. The breakfasts had a varied menu, we tried a different one each day and all three were excellent.
