This overnight was a quick stop for us as we got in after dark and left early the next morning. Our accommodation was an apartment across the street from the restaurant. It was very comfortable. The people were very friendly at check in and when we had any questions. The apartment was a nice, large space, a little dated but comfortable. Parking was right next to the building in the square. The bathroom was well lighted and had plenty of storage area for our personal products. There was a washing machine in the unit, but no electric dryer. They did provide a drying rack and had space heaters. Overall, it was a great value and stay!

The photos and description of the location gave the impression that being on a cliff top there were spectacular views. There were, but not from the accommodation as this looked onto the back of the hosts house. Very misleading. The kitchen living space was not integrated to the bedroom so one had to go outside - in the pouring rain as it happened. Very inconvenient and uncomfortable and this was not made clear in the description it being described as a "private" area. The kitchen living area was also said to have an 'observatory'. There was a large window with a view was of a plowed field.

We visited the Quayside restaurant on our first evening.
We visited the Quayside restaurant on our first evening. The smoked haddock was perfect. Some lovely views over the harbour.
We visited the local fish house to get some dressed crab for family down south and had an afternoon in the Harbour Bar whilst the kids enjoyed the sand pit outside.

Perfect wee seaside village very friendly people nice location away from normal busy traffic life. Great chippy takeaway Quayside or if want to sit in they have restaurant and if you fancy playing pool or pub games there’s restaurant with bar next door called Harbour bar both places sell good grub.
If you want awalk you can walk to Inverbervie only 20-30 minutes away either on path or coastal path there is small kids play park away from any main roads.
The only bad thing is no really local shop for stocking up fridge or cupboards but there is fish monger at harbour but you either need car or get bus to Inverbervie and Johnshaven or drive 15mins to Stonehaven if wanting alot of supplies.

Small friendly coastal village.
Small friendly coastal village. Excellent fish and chip restaurant and take away. Visit to the local bar, when we arrived early, delightful young barman set the mood for our short break. As only a one night stay we didn’t try the bar food, although this was recommended.

It is a little fishing village with an attractive harbour. There is a good paved walk to the next village north and a good track southwards (on a cycle route) by the sea so is ideal for dog owners. There is no shop but a good pub (also very dog friendly)and a fantastic fish and chip restaurant/takeaway.
While being just off the main coastal road it is quiet and makes a great base for touring the area.

Gourdon is a little harbour and a great base to visit his neighbouring towns like Inverbervie, Stonehaven, Johnshaven, St.Cyrus, Lunan Bay. You can do coastal walks and enjoy the great outdoors/beaches and wildlife (e.g. Fowlsheugh), but also go to Aberdeen - all close enough for day trips.
