The Jack and Jill Coaching Inn, hotel in Glaisdale

Located in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, 25 miles from Dalby Forest, The Jack and Jill Coaching Inn has accommodations with a restaurant, free private parking and a bar.

The Jack and Jill Coaching Inn offers an excellent location to explore some lovely coast. We managed to visit Whitby, Staithes and Runswick Bay, as hoped! The hotel was exceptionally clean and well maintained, The family room was perfect for both us and our 7 year old. It exceeded our expectations. It was like new. The room and hotel has lots of character whilst being also being modern and stylish. There is a good communal space to relax in- for a drink and cake or evening meal. We did both! If you are crazy golf fans like us, I would highly recommend trying out the one at the Jack and Jill Coaching Inn: it has18 holes, very well- maintained and some clever designs. This was a great bonus.

The Fox & Hounds Inn, hotel in Glaisdale

Surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of the North York Moors, this former 16th-century coaching inn is now a high-quality country inn and restaurant, rich in historic charm.

On arrival the young girl at the bar (Did not see her name) was quick and efficient. She explained everything and showed us where to go. She then served us for dinner and is a great asset to your team and again nothing was too much trouble and even did an excellent job of upselling one of the specials as a starter. The food was delicious, great portions and quick. The inn is a gorgeous country pub but with some gorgeous touches that make it feel really comfy. Eg underfloor heating in bedrooms/bathrooms. Water in your rooms, super comfy large bed and huge bathroom. The open fire and relaxed, personal atmosphere was a charm. We would definitely come back again.

Beautiful little village nestled in the dales, I only stayed one night, but the area really was beautiful, lovely round the bridge very lose to the Arncliffe Arms. My stay was to take photos in Whitby which I did but came back early to enjoy a drink at the pub.

The surroundings, it’s beautiful countryside. Train and bus service just round the corner. Great food, excellent hosts, basic rooms but clean and everything you need. Breakfast excellent . Just 10 miles from Whitby. No noise from the pub in my room. Very hilly by foot and car but stunning views.

Admittedly, on the two occasions I've stayed here, I haven't explored the village itself much or the surrounding area. I've spent most of the day in between visiting Whitby and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (one of many activities that you, the reader, could get up to, should you decide to visit also). It is, however, easy enough to get around, the Arncliffe Arms is a great restaurant in terms of food quality (especially if you're staying there) and the Beggar's Bridge near the railway station is one place in particular that makes a tranquil retreat if your interest isn't necessarily transport focused. So, by all means, do try it out and see what you think.

One of numerous villages scattered among the Moors.

One of numerous villages scattered among the Moors. Good centre for walking and getting to Whitby, "Aidensfield" (goathland),the Esk and the woods and moors. Built of typical stone and somewhat lowering in the rain on the "rare ?" occasions when it rains.

The location was very near to Heartbeat country and is surrounded by beautiful scenery and the moors. The pub itself is busy with a great atmosphere. My room was a bit small but clean and comfy. Breakfast was in the bar and was very nice, served by a cheerful lady. I arrived late in the evening, after the kitchen had closed, but they offered to rustle something up for me if i wanted . I didn't but it was a nice gesture

The property was absolutely perfect, we really loved staying here for 2 nights and had a wonderful time visiting Rievaulx Abbey (on the way), Danby Lodge (nearby) and Rosedale (on the way back). We had a lovely meal at the Wheatsheaf at Egton. We also enjoyed walking down the village to Beggar's Bridge (by the railway station), though note that it is quite a steep climb back up.

Great location in a quiet Yorkshire village, views from the garden were wonderful. The welcome guide gave lots of good local information and recommendations. Both beds were comfortable and the cottage was well equipped. It was a nice touch to leave firewood for the two wood burners but as it was warm, we did not need to use them.

We booked the Green specifically so that we could go walking on the moors. The location is great. Simon met us at the property and recommended shops/ restaurants and stuff nearby, which was brill - very many thanks. Really relaxed, pretty remote/ quiet location - good WiFi (which impressed the kids!) - would definitely recommend.
