The Craven Heifer Inn, hotel in Gargrave

The Craven Heifer Inn is a gastro inn located in Kelbrook. It offers stylish bedrooms with attached bathroom with gourmet dining on site.

Absolutely the poshest room we've ever stayed in, and we were so grateful there was a room available on a bank holiday weekend after we had walked away from another property we'd booked that was dirty and unacceptable. Every single thing about this place was top! The beds and pillows were comfy, the room temperature was perfect, the shower was amazing, the decor was stunning and current, parking was free and easy, and breakfast was great. (We didn't eat dinner or watch television.) The young man who checked us in walked me all the way to our room so I wouldn't get lost. For a spectacular getaway, I'd stay in the Loft Suite. The village was adorable too.

Very accommodating and friendly host. The b&b was spotlessly clean - the high standards exceeded our expectations. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was delicious - cooked by Daniel. The location is also good - about 10 minutes walk into the centre of town and the same to the station. I'd definitely stay again.

Gargrave is only a small village but there is a supermarket, garden centre and a few shops and places to eat and drink. It depends what you want from a holiday. If you're looking for "lively" then this is not the place for you. If you're happy with peace and quiet then this is it. Skipton is a lovely town to visit, especially when the market is on. If you have a car, a trip to Boundary Mill at Colne is highly recommended. You can spend a good few hours there browsing around the store. We ate at our hotel every night so cannot recommend anywhere in Gargrave to eat.

A quiet location, the local people are friendly and the eating establishments excellent. When the river is low, below the bridge leading to the Church, you can see and paddle on an old Roman road. The Co-op is well provisioned for those eating in and there is a pharmacy if needed. Ideally located to explore the Dales we visited Ribblehead, Hawes & Malham Cove.

There was nothing to dislike at Gargrave, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast was excellent, we didn't always have dinner at the restaurant, ate in the bar sometimes and food was good. Drinks rather expensive and if staying for a week or more can turn out very expensive as spa etc are all extras. Will visit again.

All of the rooms are on the ground floor making disabled access very easy and convenient to the reception and dining room. Gargeave is in beautiful countryside and the hotel is set well back from the main road, well lit and quiet. On a future visit I would look for a more atmospheric local restaurant in which to dine.

Gargrave is a tiny village with not a lot happening. The hotel is on its own on a huge Estate with lots of outdoor activities and a lovely Spa. Location is on the edge of the Yorkshire dales and within easy didstance of Ribblehead Viaduct and Hawes. Great place for sight seeing and relaxation.

Absolutely everything! The location in Gargrave village is fabulous. A very quick walk to the pub, shop, country walks and canal walks. The house itself is just wonderful. Incredibly clean and well appointed. The decor is lovely and it has everything you could need for any length of stay. The welcome basket and treats make you feel very special. The owner is very friendly and super helpful. It’s a huge bonus that we can bring our dog also. And there are even supplies and treats for them too!

The rooms were nice and clean but unfortunately quite small . Staff in the view restaurant were lovely and it was really nice food . The spa was lovely but I was not aware that we had to pay extra to use the facility . with the hotel being call a hotel and spa and for the price of the rooms I would certainly expect that the spa would be included for hotel guests . This is the norm and I have not come across such a ridiculous and expensive extra for a spa.

A charming cottage, it’s really well equipped for a holiday let, far better than others we have stayed in. The wood burner adds to the character and charm. We’re likely to book again. The location is great, Gargrave itself has lovely walks from the door with easy access to the wider Dales. The Masons arms is a really good pub, great food. The old Swan was handy.

Gargrave is a lovely friendly village with great road connections to all possible Yorkshire walks. Quite a few starts at the doorstep of the cottage. The cottage is in a quiet location but close enough to the main road. The rooms are spacious, clean and very nicely decorated. The kitchen has everything you need, including coffee pods for the Nespresso machine :)

Lovely cottage. Very comfy beds. Very home-from-home feel. A great base from where to discover the delights of Yorkshire towns and dale. Gargrave has a couple of good pubs; a local chippy; indian restaurant and a Co-op shop - ideal. Could've spent all our time in nearby Skipton town alone. Recommend a visit to Keelham Farm Shop for fresh farm produce.
