The Granary is just stunning - a perfect mix of traditional and modern. It's bright and spacious - and very well appointed. There was nothing we needed that wasn't to hand. So many great extra touches. Definitely the biggest beds we have slept in in Scotland.

This was the most exceptional stay of our entire trip to Scotland. Luxurious stay with comfortable rooms. Quiet and relaxing. The dinner was fantastic and we sincerely appreciated how they run their dinner in multiple rooms starting with cocktails in the library. The staff was so accommodating as we needed to park early since we had an all day distillery tour. Breakfast was fantastic!

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, down to earth people, clean and tidy accommodations, and the location. We were able to walk to the Glenfiddich Distillery from the Inn and to the shops around town. The breakfast was delicious! Thanks for a great stay!

I stayed there only for one night in order to be close to my visit to Glen Grant distillery and the whisky trail in the area. But the place was lovely and I could spend a couple of days more there, visiting lovely villages, beaches and castles nearby.

Although great view of the ocean you really couldnt access the beach. Not the best due to being a stoney beach no good for children or dogs as you couldn't get down to the waters edge. Far better beach at Lossiemouth and Hopeman

A very good base for exploring Speyside or the coast or going on the Whisky Trail. Interesting selection of small shops - Tourist and quality Scottish souvenirs - Antique shops - Fabric and haberdashery (which is now difficult to find in the city) - Cafe / ice-cream parlour - local history museum - interesting walks.

Countryside at its best - flowing great salmon rivers, the sea, inland country walks on the moors of northern Scotland. Close to landmarks and Elgin city. Mountain bike trails just along the road. Go for it

Nice wee town, quiet and sleepy now that it's bypassed, But it has a superb ice cream parlour. Worthy of a wee wander around and there are many nice walks from the centre, including along the Speyside Way.
The room was massive with lots of storage and oodles of space in sink area fir toiletries. Lovely big bath towels and spotlessly clean. The accommodation looks bleak and run down outside the front so we were very surprised to see the interior. The breakfast room was bright and airy. Due to a bereavement we had to eat breakfast at The Gordon Arms, its sister hotel. It was just down the road and a fabulous start to the day.
Our second stay at Orton Estate Fochabers and loved it! Great cottage for a family with teenage kids who are looking for something different other than staying in a family room in a hotel. Clean, comfortable and a beautiful location. We used it as a base for visiting family in Elgin but there’s loads to do in the area. Definitely recommend and would love to come back in the winter time to use the log burner.
Excellent cottage in the centre of Fochabers. Immaculately clean with all the comforts required. Perfect cottage for taking our dog to with the Green Door entry to the Gordon Castle estate at the end of the street and plenty of other walks near by. A very short walk to the Pizza takeaway, award winning chip shop and super meals at the dog friendly Gordon Arms hotel.
This was very central to Fochabers but also in a quiet area, easy parking, the accommodation was spotlessly clean , and very warm , we had our 2 dogs and within easy walking distance to the river , the butchers shop is across the road with great quality and reasonable price
Good value for money stay;
- spacious room
- clean
- while The Red Lion does not provide evening meals, the “sister” hotel (Gordon Arms)nearby does and billing for accommodation and meals can be consolidated. Food good at the Gordon Arms
The hotel was very conveniently located, particularly for people wanting to visit the walled garden at Gordon Castle.
The dining room served an excellent dinner.
The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable.
Nice rooms in a separate area upstairs at back of the 'pub' - well equipped and furnished. Good shower.
Excellent breakfast.
Fochabers an interesting place and good location for the Moray coast and NW Aberdeenshire
Right in the centre of Fochabers, friendly staff, great spacious accommodation.Room was very comfortable nice and cosy an a very good en suite shower. Ideal after a day on the Speyside Way. Very good value for money.
Everything about The Red Lion Tavern exceeded my expectations. This hotel would show most luxury hotels how to “ do it right”, from polite, friendly staff to a lovely room, all at a very reasonable price.
The position of the Hotel was perfect , our evening meal in the bar was fine although no TV to watch live football .The breakfast choice was excellent . The staff were friendly and helpful .
Comfy, homely, clean and beautiful gardens / grounds. Cafe great too. Near to Fochabers. Group of friends held a murder mystery game in dining room. We had a great time. Planning our return.
