The staff at Lunan House were absolutely lovely. Yes, the rooms probably need a reno, but at the price I paid I honestly wasn't too fussed. The grounds were lovely and it's a short walk to the beach and plenty to explore around the house. Breakfast was a simple but tasty fare, and the bar & grill was also good for convenience as there's not much nearby.

The photos and description of the location gave the impression that being on a cliff top there were spectacular views. There were, but not from the accommodation as this looked onto the back of the hosts house. Very misleading. The kitchen living space was not integrated to the bedroom so one had to go outside - in the pouring rain as it happened. Very inconvenient and uncomfortable and this was not made clear in the description it being described as a "private" area. The kitchen living area was also said to have an 'observatory'. There was a large window with a view was of a plowed field.

Ferryden is a quiet neighbourhood, well placed for visiting the Montrose Basin wildlife centre and with easy access to the wider Angus area. There are walks locally and easy access to the beach. The village is compact, but lacks places to eat out, so a (reasonable) walk, drive or bus journey to Montrose is necessary.
