Online the pictures showed were not indicative of what we got. The host was 35 minutes late for our arrival time, we had to sit in the car waiting till they showed up. Online a restaurant was advertised, so although the Hall was in the middle of nowhere we thought we could have our meals there. WRONG, There is a huge sign advertising meals but we were informed it closed. The hall advertised excellent breakfast, but it was a cold buffet. The beds were very old and lumpy and the bathroom floor very slippery when wet, We did not stay for breakfast as we were so over this terrible place.
With a beautiful rural setting in the spectacular Scottish countryside, this small, family-run hotel is halfway between Lockerbie and Gretna Green, just off the A74(M).

So near the motorway, its a lovely stop over on way from Scottish highlands to Manchester. Love the food, staff & value for money. Stayed here probably 5 or 6 times so that tells its own story

Breakfast and location in our opinion was wonderful, extremely well run establishment, would have no hesitation recommending it to anyone. Value for money, try it, you won’t be disappointed.

Lovely Hotel, 400 years old and lots of character, very friendly, regular bus service to Lockerbie, Annan, Gretna and Carlisle. We had a great adventure. Hotel was very friendly and we loved our stay. The food was good pub grub and the hotel was lovely as was the room. We had a beautiful on suite. A big comfy bed. Absolutely no complaints at all and we shall go back. Thank you Mary and our lovely barmaid Karen. Nothing was too much trouble.

We were welcomed as soon as we arrived by Ste who was more than helpful during our stay. The landlady made a point of coming to sit near us during the evening and we had a nice conversation not only with her but a local gentleman called Ben who we had a few drinks with. The barmaid was really good and although the place was busy she didn't drop a stitch. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again on the next trip to Scotland.

This hotel was a real home from home.
This hotel was a real home from home.
Each room was full of fascinating historical artefacts and the owner was keen to tell us about the history of the building.
There are open fires and cosy sitting rooms to enjoy.
The welcome was very warm.
What a gem! We stayed because we had a family wedding nearby and nothing was too much trouble for the excellent staff at the Cressfield House Hotel. Kelly deserves a special mention, she seems to do everything and was so delightful.
The full Scottish breakfast was delicious., and we had a pretty good meal the evening we arrived. The rooms were very clean and well presented. It had a lovely relaxed atmosphere , would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in this area,
The friendly welcome was great after our long trip. The room was spacious and warm, the bathroom had everything we needed. We had dinner, which was really good - especially the Ecclefechan tart! Breakfast was generous and very well cooked. We highly recommend the Ecclefechan Hotel and plan to stay there again in the near future.
Breakfast and our evening meal were excellent. This is a dog-friendly hotel. We were so pleased with this hotel that on our way home we rang and managed to book a return night in Room 6. Staff, room, food all were excellent. Thank you for our excellent stay. It was perfect.
Delightfully quirky hotel right next to motorway. John & Angela were great hosts. Large comfortable room and atmospheric bar. Good breakfast. All topped off with a hidden gem of an antique shop at the back of the hotel. It was a memorable one night stay!
We liked the location and the proximity to the hotel where we had dinner on the first night. We liked the size of all the rooms especially the bedrooms. The bedding and towels were spotless as were all the dishes in the kitchen.
The staff were warm, friendly and helpful.
The room very clean comfortable and well equipped.
The home-made food was delicious, good value and plentiful.
The old house where the hotel is based is grand and full of character.
Really easy to find, without driving miles away from your travel route. Car park behind the hotel. Evening meal even though we arrived later than expected. Good pub atmosphere with fantastic staff.
a lovely house hotel, a very friendly welcome and a lovely room (10) good parking, excellent food and a great full Scottish breakfast. would we stay again yes in a heartbeat.
Spent 1 night and the room was really clean with all details in place. Bit of fresh milk, different types of coffee, warm and same level of a hotel, but smaller.
