Not only was The Lion a wonderful location to explore the Cotswolds (and close to Stratford-upon-Avon) it was cute, quaint and so cozy. Mark (the owner) was incredibly nice and we loved our stay at his property. I can't say enough good things! He also helped us carry our luggage up the stairs. Rooms are small, but well decorated and comfortable. We had dinner at the pub and it was delicious!

The breakfast was good but the evening meal very poor. Staff were slow and didn’t seem to know anything about the menu. The standard
Room was very tired the images are misleading, the superior rooms may be considerably nicer and worth the money
Swimming pool was packed but warm

We went for a wedding and my advice would be to ensure you have a taxi pre-booked in advance. We used a gentlemen called Cookie who was great. Hotel Grounds are nice but the bar service could be iproved.

Lovely welcome from staff, pool was included in our stay.
Lovely welcome from staff, pool was included in our stay. We booked for 2 nights stay, inclusive breakfast - lots of choice, hot and plenty of space to sit. Big car park, no additional parking fees, and a 12 minute drive from the beautiful Straford Upon Avon. Hotel is rural on the outskirts of Ettington. Plenty of picturesque villiages in all directions. We also went to Warwick for the day - perfect.

The old part of the hotel looked nice but as my friends commented, the rest of it looks like a hospital, something the taxi driver agreed everyone says. The staff were struggling with a new system so took ages to get checked in and then given a room upgrade. We went up some small stairs and into a room which had the most awful smell of poo. We opened the windows and were thankfully off to a wedding so after getting back it smelt better! Paid for our stay in reception as we left, no mention of additional payments. Checked my bank statement next day and had been charged for previous occupants drinks and breakfast - as well as having to inhale their poo particles! After ringing on many occasions and many emails, I was eventually given a refund 2 weeks later, only after suggesting they compensate me for the time, stress and bank charges I was likely to incur. Needless to say, no compensation payment but just glad they eventually dealt with it. Without any apologies in my last contact.

A quiet location, Rooms were a good size, clean and comfortable. Large TV screen. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. The dinner menu was also good and the food enjoyable. A little concerned at the length of time taken to serve the order. Overall I would go again
