The location near the town of Dundrum was perfect. The views from Dundrum castle were sublime. Our host was so friendly and engaging that we felt like family! We had a wonderful Ulster breakfast cooked for us, and the traditions explained. Just a wonderful experience.

Absolutely beautiful land and the sweetest host I’ve ever met. She made up home made scones and they were absolutely delicious!! Hands down the best thing I’ve eaten in Northern Ireland!
Fantastic for a base. It is a great location for everything you need to do and explore. The castle is free, as is the parking and the walks in and around Dundrum are very good and quite flat. You have everything at one`s disposal in the village. Further up the coast approximately 1 mile there is another beach which is brilliant and the locals swim in the sea. Parking is not free there, so be careful. Also, they have cattle roaming the area, therefore keep your dog on a leash. Newcastle has an abundance of attractions and caters for the young and old. Newcastle has good pubs, shops and eateries as well as numerous ice cream parlours. Try the family deli at the bottom of the main Street I think it is called Simpsons, fantastic food, stews, chillies, chips, cooked braising steak with gravy and mash. Cooked chickens, kebabs, rice and cold cuts and very reasonably priced. However, at the top of Main Street, there is a large cafe named, begins with the letter "D" DORS, DUMS. Avoid if you can 1 rasher of bacon, 1 sausage, 1 egg, 1 toast, 1 potato cake, and a very small pot of beans of which there were 25 beans. Honest. £10 that is without the price of a cup of tea, that is extra, go to Simpsons, way better.

The accessibility to Newcastle, the Murlough National Nature Reserve, Castlewellan, the beach and the mountains all within walking/cycling distance.
A couple of slight negatives, one is the lack of bike racks to lock our bikes to as we bring them with us every time and it would be nice to know that we had somewhere secure to lock them and secondly, the state of the water as the last time I swam there around the back of Rooms@Mourne in mid October 2022 there were dead crabs and brown foam floating pass me, which I don't think bodes well for water quality so perhaps the local council could do water testing to enable swimmers to make an informed choice as to whether or not to get in as it could be a fabulous asset to the town for both visitors and residents alike if they felt it was safer to swim there.

Dundrum is a small village outside of Newcastle but is well serviced with public transport. Although small there are a number of restaurants and bars, plus a garage beside the accommodation which socks everything you might need for a short stay.
Within 50 minutes from Belfast it’s the perfect place to come to relax and take in the beautiful views across Dundrum bay. Can’t wait to go back at New Year!

Dundrum is a lovely Irish village with plenty of history and beautiful views of the Mourne Mountains and in close proximity to many other beautiful areas easily accessible by road.
Has a fantastic fresh fish restaurant (Mourne seafood Bar) that serves beautiful food and there's a lovely little cafe serving delicious food and tea and coffee (Blue Bay Cafe).
