Our room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was sufficient to set us up for the day. The Inn is in a quiet hamlet outside Dorchester and as such is centrally situated for touring Dorset.

Nice, clean and comfortable place. Also, the food was excellent and great value for money. We all enjoyed our stay. Excellent breakfast in the morning.
Couldn’t fault the accommodation.
However Dorchester town seemed limited with places for a meal in the town itself. Plenty of places for burgers and snacks etc; but had to drive out for a decent meal.
The Keep was a very interesting place to visit. Other places of interest were either closed, or expensive to visit, or you had to book for an appointment.
Fortunately the buses to Weymouth seemed regular.

Although not a large town, there are a nice selection of shops along the Main Street, 5 museums catering for young and old, historical town walking trails and nature walks and a lovely Victorian park.
The selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants will satisfy any foodie lovers requirements, and on the Sunday that we visited, there was an Artisan street market and a car boot to wander around.
Parking is plentiful and cheap, and free 6pm-8am.

Dorchester has the feel of a small town with many delightful old buildings, cafes, pubs and restaurants, all seemingly selling good food. There are many museums in and around the town centre, often easy to get to on foot. There is Roman history here, medieval too, a long military heritage and of course the dinosaurs of the famous Jurassic coast. Too many things to do in just one weekend, and many more attractions only a short car-drive away. The shops? - Well we never had time to explore them!

The Dorchester Museum is excellent.
The Dorchester Museum is excellent. We called in just to find out about the Iron Age fort and ended up learning so much more. Everything is very clearly displayed and explained in enough detail, but not too much. There are some remarkable Roman mosaics, a good overview of a fascinating history of the area, and an interesting section about Thomas Hardy. We were there in cold, wet February weather, so outdoor activities didn’t suit the weather. At different times of the year the outdoor activities in the area have great promise.

We only went for my cousin wedding at the towns registry office, that was a very good experience. We had intended to look around the town on the following day but the weather was so foul we travelled back home.
The town for what we saw had some wonderful historical building, and we would have liked to explored more
Fern Cottage is not just an ordinary B & B - it's far beyond that - can call it 'RETREAT' if you like. The environment is so therapeutic - wonderful scenes, greenery, open landscapes all around. What about their super - size, help yourself breakfast and a humble host who enjoys to be of service to her Clients. It was my first visit but most of the guest I met there were returning back for a number of times. It's just few miles from Dorchester in Dorset - Pindletrenthide I will be back, for sure!!!!!
This was our second stay at the King's arms and we absolutely love it. The location is fantastic, parking included. Food is good quality and the hotel itself has a lovely warm and cosy feeling. Definitely will come back. We went for a special occasion and they gave us a brownie to celebrate this which was a nice touch. They were very accommodating about meal times and happy to give suggestions for things to do if asked. Lots of history all around it which is lovely, great location.
The location of Clematis House was perfect for us, in a very pretty village, just a few minutes from Dorchester and a superb base for seeing Dorset. The house was extremely clean and comfortable and was very well equipped to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. The information booklet was comprehensive and contained all the information that we required. The property has a beautiful courtyard garden and is very quiet and peaceful. The welcome tray from the owners was much appreciated.
Without doubt this was the best room we have rented. An idyllic location, spotlessly clean with friendly and helpful hosts. We rented for four days and would not hesitate to return or recommend to anyone. Breakfast is tasty and plentiful, the room comfortable and well furnished and the wifi fast. Bear in mind that there is no bath but the shower is large and powerful. The village is extremely pretty too and Dorchester has some great restaurants and beautiful surroundings.
Lovely location in pretty Dorset village about 8 miles north of Dorchester. I used as a base for visiting the tank museum at Bovington - about a 35 min journey away.
The accommation is across the car park from the pub which is fine and the double en-suite room was well appointed and comfy. Staff and food at the pub were excellent and it felt really friendly for someone travelling alone.
Hope to return with a friend to show her the area.
Westwood house was a charming Hotel / Inn from which to explore Dorchester and surroundings. Surprisingly quiet despite its Highstreet location, easy access to reasonably priced parking at the Top of Town car park (though we mostly motored around during the day). Rooms are top notch on par with most four star hotels, breakfast is excellent and hosts are charming. Win-win!
The property is situated in a quant setting by the riverbank surrounded by the beauty of nature. Yet,Dorchester and a vast choice of dining area are within just a few miles. The contrast of which offers both the still and peace of the property location and then those seeking a more lively visit, have the bustle of fine eateries within reaching distance.
Beautiful period building, wonderful decoration and furnishings in a most convenient location to visit all Dorchester and indeed Dorsets many attractions. Very attentive staff providing delicious breakfast offerings and fabulous coffee to start your day. Room was super clean with crispy fresh linen. A real treasure to find !
We were staying there because my parents were on holiday in Weymouth, my father was taken to hospital in Dorchester so we needed local accommodation. Mark was lovely and bent over backward to accommodate us and help us out especially with my elderly mom.
The Kings Arms is an old established hotel in central Dorchester which has been recently, and most beautifully, renovated. The furnishings/ lighting etc are exquisite, the food varied and delicious and staff are knowledgable, friendly and helpful.
I found the Duchess of Cornwall hotel to be excellent. The room was a good size, well decorated and had a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was good and the staff friendly and professional. I would anyone visiting Dorchester to stay at this hotel.
Our room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was sufficient to set us up for the day. The Inn is in a quiet hamlet outside Dorchester and as such is centrally situated for touring Dorset.
The host of the hotel took the time to chat with each guest, and was helpful in sharing tips about visiting the surrounding area. Many decors in the hotel looked nice.
