The room was big and comfortable and the bathroom which looked to have been recently refurbished was beautiful. It was nice to find a selection of herbal teas and fresh milk alternative (oat milk) on the hospitality tray, along with bottled water. Although the premises was a bar and bistro we weren't troubled by any noise.
Afan Lodge is a dog friendly hotel, within its own grounds in the Afan Argoed Country Park. There is free Wi-Fi and each modern room has air conditioning, 39 inch smart flat-screen TV.

The property was spotlessly clean and in very nicely furnished and decorated. We were happy to find tea, coffee, sugar, milk etc.. provided. The beds were extremely comfy and the location quiet. Very much enjoyed the rainforest shower.

We stayed here for a little Christmas getaway and it was amazing! cannot recommend it enough.
Brilliant hosts, house was clean and tidy, beautiful welcome hamper when we arrived. The little touches like the hot tub and Christmas decorations really made a difference. House is equipped with everything you need.

it was a beautiful farm with lots of animals and it felt like we were staying with family. the bed was so comfy and we had the best night sleep. it was lovely meeting other people staying in the rooms at breakfast and the breakfast was great and you make what you want. will definitely be back in the future. we have a dog and there are dogs there but it wasn’t a problem for us as we didn’t see them during our visit. lovely hosts and getting the time to chat about wales while we stayed.
Cymmer is just the right place for relax. Lots of walking and cycling trials. Not too much tourists.
We took some food with us so it was pleasure to cook, but it was few places to eat if someone does not like cooking.
5min drive to mountain bike trials and amazing walking trials in Afan forest.

Cymmer is a stunning location on the edge of Afan Argoed country park. Lovely pub the Refreshment rooms and endless miles of cycling and walking tracks within the forest. Limited bus service so a vehicle is needed to get around.

Cymmer offers wonderful forested, mountain views in a quiet setting. Host is friendly and accommodating but not intrusive. Apartment is spacious, immaculate, and in excellent condition. Very good value

Location Was quiet and peaceful.but a really good atmosphere in the bar in the evening.Drinks and food at reasonable prices and the food was really tasty.We took our 17 month old Labrador and found the walks in the area safe and amazing even little streams he could play in.The room was clean.warm and very welcoming and our view was to die for.The staff were very helpful and friendly.The only downside was the typical South Wales weather (RAIN) but nobody has any control over the 😄. Will definitely be booking again.

Afan lodge is a lovely place to stay with beautiful views. The mountain biking routes are fabulous and right on the doorstep. Staff at the lodge are extremely helpful and the cooked breakfast is great.
We had an amazing night at our stay here. Everything from the staff, the food(evening meal and breakfast) and the room, it was all an exceptional service! We took our 2 dogs along with us who were also made to feel comfortable and welcomed. The hotel is backed onto a cycle path which is very convenient to take the dogs for a walk. We cannot wait to come back and stay again!!
The location is beautiful. I couldn't get enough of the views. The restaurant was lovely. We had breakfast and dinner here, which was great as it's quite isolated. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Bed was really comfortable. All in all a really lovely hotel

Hotel was full but well managed , amazingly peaceful as there is only nature around. The views are just breathtaking.
There was no cooked breakfast, but the hotel had already emailed me beforehand to explain that it was to do with short-staffing, so it was good that they had taken the trouble to explain in advance.
