Great breakfast and friendly, helpful staff. All in all good value for money, and regardless of what your satnav might say it's only 15mins from Hay-on-Wye via Clyro.

Our stay at Black Mountain Break was absolutely outstanding. Spotlessly clean and incredibly comfortable. Every little detail was thought of; the breakfast hamper (which even catered to vegetarian dietary requirements) was exceptional, and the extra little touches such as a bottle of prosecco in the fridge and a birthday bunting for my partners birthday really did make our stay! I had excellent communication with Caitlin throughout; she was super helpful, and the welcome back the week before arrival was so useful. I also sent Caitlin some balloons for my partners birthday ahead of our stay, and she kindly decorated the accommodation with these upon our arrival. All in all I would highly recommend anyone staying here, it was completely faultless! So comfortable, luxurious, accessible to all local amenities, nic little walk around the corner to the castle too, which was an ace little bonus for us.

The restaurant where we had an evening meal at The New Ghurka Inn served excellent food.
The staff were lovely.
The perfect place to base yourself for hill walking.
The perfect place to base yourself for hill walking. The views were of course outstanding & our hosts had recommended 2 different length walks to get the lay of the land. It’s a short drive into Bluith Wells if you need to pick up supplies. Coming back after a day out to a warm & comfortable house made the trip perfect

It is a fantastic rural location, just right for people who want to get away from it all. But still within a reasonable distance from the Brecon Beacons National Park (Pen y Fan, Waterfalls) and Hay-On-Wye (2nd hand bookshop capital of the UK). The local pub in Erwood, the Wheelwright's Arms does great food and has a nice atmospheere.

A bit of a wiggly road to find this secluded spot but worth it. Big open plan room, ideal for our toddler who also enjoyed the sheep in the nearby field. Very well located for access to Brecon Beacons with a multitude of amazing walks. Local towns, Hay on Wye and Brecon also very picturesque. Decent pubs in the area but currently need to book for peak weekend lunchtimes.
