Royal Victoria Hotel Snowdonia, hotel in Clynnog-fawr

At the foot of Mount Snowdon, The Royal Victoria Hotel is cradled between the lakes Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris. Bedrooms have baths, showers, tea and coffee facilities and Freeview TVs.

The cost of the hotel is clearly because of the location. Opposite the Llanberis path for Snowdon is spot on. The hotel itself needs an update. No toiletries in the room, we asked for toothpaste and got charged £2. It is basic. Food in the bar was basic and expensive. Not the wow factor and decided to have fish and chips at the local village on day 2 rather than pay huge prices for mediocre food. Staff were kind and friendly. This hotel is perfect for climbing Snowdon but don’t expect anything great. The rooms had no mountain views and it is very noisy with visitors coming in and out. Got woken at 3am hearing kitchen staff. Take your own toiletries and embrace the village but don’t expect a lot.

Meifod House, hotel in Clynnog-fawr

Set in Caernarfon, in a building dating from 1904, Meifod House offers a garden and guestrooms with free WiFi. Offering a terrace, the property is located within 1.6 mi of Caernarfon Castle.

Delightful! The house has an energy of it`s own, vibrant and purposeful to make you enjoy the stay, feel thrown back in 1960. All the rooms are wonderfully furnished (library, living room, dining room, the bar, etc). The hosts are friendly and very helpful. If you want to have an experience, we recommend staying here: everything is made for comfort. Our room was spacious, there were mirrors everywhere, the vines are hovering over the windows very so discreetly, the bathroom (with a vintage tub) was perfectly sized for a nice bath time!

Sygun Fawr Country House, hotel in Clynnog-fawr

Located in Beddgelert and with Snowdon reachable within 10 miles, Sygun Fawr Country House has a shared lounge, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and a bar.

We stayed with Jay and the team for 4 days / 3 nights over Easter. From the moment we arrived they couldn’t have been more welcoming. Every one of the team were overly helpful and accommodating. Everything was clean and tidy, breakfast was divine, location was perfect and only a short 10 min walk from the village. Personal touch’s throughout such as torches for us to take out in the evenings, a help yourself honesty bar, they even made us a pack up for when we couldn’t make it to breakfast one morning as we were leaving too early that day to go up snowdon. We’re already talking about going back to wales and I really don’t think we would even bother looking elsewhere to stay as really couldn’t fault it! Thank you so so much to the Sygun Fawr team as what a stay we had !
