The staff was very friendly and there were some very nice common rooms where you could sit and visit or have a drink or have some dinner. We liked the historical nature of the pub hotel. The other thing we really enjoyed was taking a bus to Llangollen and renting some e bikes. We rode them back to Chirk along the canal paths and then rode them back to Llangollen the next day. The Hand had a room where we stored the bikes overnight. We also enjoyed that there are several little restaurants and a butcher shop very close by, where we could buy some nice things.

The hotel was on a large property just on the edge of town, lots of parking and easy to find. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Town was just a short drive or walk away. Friendly and helpful staff. Would return.
Located in the picturesque Ceiriog Valley, The Glyn Valley Hotel is a historic inn offering a restaurant and rooms with valley views, just a 20-minute drive from Llangollen.

Set in a beautiful valley with fabulous scenery. The hotel was a lovely mix of modern and olde world, well set out and very clean. The room was nice with ensuite facilities, the linens were all fresh.
The breakfast was good with plenty of choices available, we were even offered a to go beverage ☕ for our journey home. All in all a great stay at a great price . All credit to the owner and his staff 😊
The Mulberry Inn is located in the quiet rural setting of Llwynmawr village in the beautiful Ceiriog Valley.

I’ve visited Chirk on many occasions for business and leisure. The village is quieter since the building of the bypass. One feature to see is the aqueduct. Nearby Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is famous but Chirk Aquaduct is impressive too. It runs alongside the railway viaduct over a deep valley. At its north end the canal enters a tunnel.

Disappointing. Don't be taken in.
Disappointing. Don't be taken in. It's not really a castle, its a stately home and not a very interesting one at that. Only part of the 'castle' can be viewed, what can be seen is not very interesting and poorly presented and not set in context. There were no information screens, very little signage and what information there was consisted of 'this is a painting of a person you've never heard of. This is another'. At £15 per person (!) this was grossly over-priced and certainly not worth the money

Unfortunately we were returning home from one funeral to prepare for another in a couple of days so we did not have time to visit any where except the adjacent restaurant but it looked a pleasant little town with lots of local sites such as the castle and Pontcysyllte aqueduct

We took a dayboat hire for the family out of the Anglo Welsh marina at Trevor and travelled down the canal down to Chirk, passing over the famous aqueduct. Following day we went to the British Ironworks near Oswestry and saw the Knife Angel sculpture. A great day out.

The hotel is outside Chirk, a few minutes drive. The town is quite small but has a good free car park. We couldn't visit the castle as it was closed due to bad weather. The Llangollen canal is nearby and good for walking. The aqauaduct is interesting. It's easy to get to NT places, Llangollen, Oswestry and Snowdonia National Park.

Chirk is just a small Village but cute and it has coffee shops and gift shops. Llangollen is close and it's generally a nice area to drive around.
Walks along the canal are a bonus and this is close to the Lion Quays resort..
Mixed feelings about the Lion Quays. We stayed here for two nights, including our wedding anniversary. The on-site restaurant was good, nice food, very helpful and friendly staff, and it was good to be able to eat breakfast outside overlooking the Llangollen Canal. (Great place to moor your canal barge and use the restaurant!)
The room was perfectly good – Premier Inn/business hotel grade, with a very comfortable bed.
Would we stay here again? yes, if there wasn’t anything better available.
The staff at the hotel were great and the rooms spotless, we ate outside on the decking and sampled the cocktails, we had breakfasts and evening meals. We felt safe during covid all the rules adhered to, we had a lovely time and would recommend the hotel, especially to walkers and dog owners. Thankyou Chirk Hotel for making us feel welcome in these difficult times.
Breakfast was very good with a wide selection and good quality .The location of the hotel was perfect for us and easy access to many points of interest. The spa facilities were very good and the staff very helpful and friendly Bar has good selection of drinks and very good prices for beer’s and wine again staff friendly and very efficient
The hotel was great. They were really busy with an event when we were there but it was all good. The mattresses were a bit uncomfortable but the room was fine. It was clean. It's an old building that has been altered and renovated repeatedly so if you expect perfection, this isn't for you. I would stay there again.
We booked this hotel due to its price and location as we were doing a road trip from South Wales to Lake District. The staff were very helpful and the huge beer garden was a delight to have our evening meal in and a few drinks in the sunshine.
Easy parking. Clean affordable rooms with plenty of space. Excellent breakfast.
Perfect for cycling the canal path to Llangollen via x2 aqueducts and x2 tunnels.
Staff friendly evening meal good at local pub within walking distance.
Easy parking. Very helpful & polite reception staff on arrival. Clean room - great bed. Great location for our needs - easy walk home from a wedding at the Spa Hotel. Attentive helpful staff at breakfast.
The character, location and breakfast all good.
Great Indian just across the road.
Great location far enough from main road to be quiet but close enough for quick access to North Wales Motorways.
Room very comfortable although the manky old mini chocolate muffin left in one of the bedside drawers was not particularly appetising. Its a great hotel in terms if rooms and facilities.
The location is excellent to seeing chirk castle. Ground floor room was much appreciated and the lovely garden view. Room was clean and had tea and coffee facilities and a hair dryer.
After a busy day we were able to have a relaxing drink and a delicious dinner. Friendly staff. Great base for visiting Chirk castle and the canal/aqueduct. Clean and comfortable.
Stayed here several times for work purposes and the hotel is absolutely fine. Everything works - quick Wi-Fi,. comfortable room, restaurant just next door, good service.
It’s my favourite hotel- we are regulars as my daughter lives in Chirk- it’s clean, comfy and good value for money. Love the king sized rooms. Highly recommend
