The location was great for exploring the Wirral, we were only staying a short time but I would have enjoyed using this hotel as a base to explore the area further. We enjoyed a walk into the main village of Thornton Haugh.
The hotel itself was clean, the room comfortable with a large bed and good bathroom with a large bath and nice toiletries. We enjoyed the added bonus of having a smart television in the room. We also noted the coffee machine although we didn't use it.
The staff were faultlessly kind, helpful, attentive and welcoming. They were the highlight of the hotel. I really appreciated their attention to dietary requirements and allergies during dinner and breakfast.
Our package included dinner allowance, breakfast and access to the spa which stayed open late. We went to the spa after dinner on the first evening and enjoyed trying out the spa facilities and the different thermal experiences on offer. We didn't pay for any additional treatments or use the gym.
The food and drinks at the terrace and Lawns were high quality, the Lawns was especially well presented and clearly prided their use of excellent seasonal produce.
Located just 3.2 kms from the city center of Chester, this 3-star country-house hotel is set within nice grounds.

Lovely spacious room, comfortable beds friendly staff and lovely breakfast.
Room was just what we needed for the night after friend's wedding. Staff were helpful with organising a taxi for us. And no disturbances from any outside noise
A charming hotel steeped in history, set in the historical town of Port Sunlight, within easy reach of Liverpool and Chester, and just 5 minutes from the M53.

High standard accommodation and exceptional staff. Cooked breakfast was well prepared and presented. There were also a good selection of cereals, fruit and croissant.
In 38 acres of peaceful grounds, just 15 minutes from Chester, this beautifully preserved Edwardian manor has a fantastic restaurant, free Wi-Fi, a log fire and charming individually decorated rooms.
The rooms were very cold. It was minus six overnight and below freezing during the day and our heating went off when we were out of the room. Therefore when we got back it was freezing cold in the room and the heater was not an adequate size to heat the room. We were very dissatisfied.

Communication was terrible ....
Communication was terrible .... I had booked a room there specifically because BOOKING.com said the hotel was pet friendly.
the booking on the website confirmed the hotel was pet friendly.
i was informed on the day that the hotel did not allow pets in the executive suites ( so why was I able to bok it when i was looking for somewhere pet friendly )
the two options when i was looking to book were this place or the local travelodge for £ 48.... i chose to pay the extra to stay somewhere nice.
then ended up having to stay in the travelodge anyway and paying £150 for the privilidg

This is a unique hotel.
This is a unique hotel. It is not part of a large chain so it benefits by being unique but it also suffers from the marketing and maintenance strengths large chain hotels have to offer. We would like such an individual hotel to thrive as it has a special personal feel. It needs further investment and attention to detail on maintenance. We loved the bar, the candles on tables and the music playing. Chandeliers in entrance and mirrors were divine. Huge potential to make into a 5 star boutique hotel!

Character, staff friendliness, attention to quality of food...
Character, staff friendliness, attention to quality of food and location make this a "return to" hotel. Indeed I have. Had a sandwich supper on arrival and a bespoke breakfast. Food very good. Not the most salubrious (decor in need of a bit of attention) but free parking and a quiet ambiance make it attractive. It's not a 5* urban chain hotel (a bit quirky) but I would recommend.

The peace and quiet of the Hotel and surrounding area.
The peace and quiet of the Hotel and surrounding area. We ate at a Vintage Inn about 1.5 miles away. Hotel quite expensive for food. Handy for Chester, Chester Zoo, Cheshire Oaks Birkenhead and Liverpool

We made this booking very last minute as the hotel we were meant to be staying at was closed for renovations (we only realised this after we had travelled 3 hours to get there!). Landed on the door step, bags and toddler in tow, and was immediately made very welcome. Room was great (better than the one we had booked at the original hotel) - 2 double beds and 2 tv's and huge bath! Breakfast was great and the staff were very friendly.
it was a lovely setting .... possibly a nice hotel but I shall never know... as I ended up in a travelodge at £150 a night as I had to book at the last minute. could have boked the travelodge for 45 when i made the booking .... but booked a nice suite at what i thought would be a nice hotel, but they would not honour the booking for a suite. The travelodge was grim. but at least the staff were competent and polite.
The hotel and grounds were absolutely stunning.
The staff were so helpful.
The food was beautiful.
Myself and my friend had a great stay for her birthday. Would thoroughly recommend.
