Clean, comfortable and friendly. The breakfast bits left out was a lovely touch
With free parking and WiFi, The Mill Hotel is in the center of Sudbury, on the banks of the River Stor. It has a bar, restaurant and sun terrace each with picturesque views over the meadows.
Located in a small town, this inn provides real ale, good home-cooked food from local suppliers, a fine wine menu and live entertainment on a regular basis.

Breakfast great, Location ideal. Lovely enthusiastic family run business.
The Crown Hotel is a family-run historic inn and restaurant, built in 1610. It retains many interesting features, such as Tudor cellars and exposed internal beams.

The location of the hotel is perfect and within walking distance of everything in the village. If you want a luxury hotel this is not for you, but if you are looking for a basic, warm, clean central hotel with good service this is perfect.
Located just 1 mile from the historic village of Castle Hedingham, The Suites at Pannells Ash offer modern and stylish accommodations with free Wi-Fi throughout.

A lovely looking pub in a great place on the pretty green in the centre of Cavendish. The room was one of three in an annexe right next to the pub, clean and comfortable, better than the photos suggest in my opinion. En suite shower room with decent shower and plenty of hot water. Breakfast is prepacked in an individual basket and is ample with porridge, fruit, biscuits, pain au chocolat, apple juice etc. One improvement, as in many b&b type rooms, would be some real milk but I understand this is tricky without a fridge. Would recommend the Five Bells and we would definitely happily return.

The situation on the green is superb
The situation on the green is superb
Very typically English and quaint
Being right by a church was wonderful
The village had a cafe, pub, charity shop, news agent,
and they were very handy and interesting.
The bells were constant but only off putting in the small hours. Machine managed, on a system.
Saturday nite was too noisy for me come leaving hour.
But considering the clean room,
and the staff so polite and helpful, it was lovely and refreshing to stay there.
The picture window over the green was just divine, and has to be the highlight of the room.
If you wanted to sit anywhere in the room but on the bed it would be difficult, but in the right season you’d be outside.
The main road of cavendish is across the green so no noise from the main road, and this makes a beautiful setting for the hotel.
Only three rooms set as 3 little lodges with there own stable door.
The parking is right in front, which is easy for unloading and loading but busy as it’s a pub. But late April and plenty of parking availability for us.
Must have a car for this area I’d say.
I’d stay there again.

Cavendish is a small but very beautiful, sleepy Suffolk village within easy travel of both Bury St Edmunds and Sudbury and all of the stunning villages and smaller towns in the area. The village is served by a surprisingly good bus service.

There is not much to do or see in Cavendish but as we were only staying for 2 nights, and it was a convenient location to see old friends, that was not a priority. There are more interesting villages very close to Cavendish which would be better for a short break.
