If you want a quiet break or a base for travelling in Angus / Fyfe its great. Carnoustie itself only has about 4 good places to eat. The High street shops are still holding on - but typically only open from 10-4.
Public transport links are not great but if you have a car there's plenty of parking (and EV charging usually available).

The beach area, golf course and immediate surroundings were impressive, good restaurants located in those areas.
The town Main Street was very disappointing, this comment being based on previous descriptions of the town.
People were friendly, and helpful, particularly the local library staff with local tourist information available.

The staff as always were attentive, helpful and friendly without being obtrusive. The food was as good as it always is. Cooked to perfection and presented well. There are plenty things to do. Lots of walks in either direction from the hotel. A walk along the High Street looking at some independent shops. You can also take the train to Dundee, only 12 minutes, and see many cultural experiences. Or, just shop. Alternatively you can go North to Aberdeen and enjoy a day out there.

Staff from check in to check out were superb.
Staff from check in to check out were superb.
Check in desk, bar staff, waiting staff and spa staff all very friendly and helpful.
For anyone who doesn't know the hotel, it is ideal for Championship golf, for walking on the beach and surrounding area and for relaxation by the sea.
Hotel food is great but there are a few restaurants in Carnoustie or if you want the city, Dundee is 10 miles away, and full of restaurants..
Breakfast and dinner were cooked when ordered , so arrived fresh at the table. Choice was excellent, portions were huge. Rooms were clean and modern. Bedding was crisp white cotton, beds were comfortable. Tea and coffee were provided free of charge. There was a mini bar but we preferred the hotel bar.
Every member of staff we dealt with were really friendly and could not have done more to make us welcome.
We really enjoyed our visit and would stay again if we came back to Carnoustie.
This was probably the best Hotel/B&B I've stayed in. The staff were beyond exceptional. Extremely friendly and Reggie the dog tops it all. The breakfast was fantastic, for some of the days of our stay I had to leave early but as one of the options was for a takeaway breakfast, I was able to take a warm breakfast roll with me for those days and it was ready and waiting for when I left. The views from the location are also beautiful. All in all I would return again!
This cottage is a lovely little find, has everything you need, towels, iron, ironising board, oven, gas hob and kettle. Just to name a few items. Very comfortable, the family that own it are lovely and helpful. It’s not to far from lots of walking areas and the beach. Plus close to places of interest in Dundee and fife and also the golf course at Carnoustie. There is a farm cafe down the road which sells lovely cakes and scones.
The room was very large and had a king bed and a twin. The ceiling is absolutely beautiful. A large bathroom with robes and a bathtub. Breakfast was wonderful. Marta even makes a dessert pancake with berries on it which was absolutely amazing. My sister and I each had a massage by Marta and both said it was the best we had ever had. The location was wonderful and I walked the beach which isn’t far.
Lisa and Graham, who renovated the 200 year-old house to an extremely high standard, were amazing hosts. They could not have done more to make our visit any more special. Our lovely room had panoramic views over the rooftops and golf courses of Carnoustie to the sea. Breakfast, like everything else, was superb. Sadly we only had one night there but will make a point of staying longer next time.
Busy hotel and pub. Very helpful cheery lady Donna locked our bikes away for us overnight as we had cycled to the hotel. Great breakfast, Restaurant not open that night but staff told us about the local options nearby. Beds comfy. Room clean, small but perfect for our stay. TV, good bedside lights for reading. Right next to main road but no traffic noise.
The hotel location is great with rooms overlooking the first and 18th tee. The restaurant and bar are good and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms and bathrooms are a good size and have nice amenities (coffee/tea and some Walkers shortbread biscuits). All around great.
Hotel is in an excellent location in the centre of Carnoustie. Car park around the back of property and easy access to your bedroom without having to go through bar or restaurant. Staff are super friendly and very attentive should you require anything extra for your room.
everything was first class ,the room was perfect it was like being in a 5 star hotel ,towels dressing gowns ,slipers etc ,good view of the sea even had binoculars in the room ,the breakfasr was perfect as much as you can eat ,will go again if iam in Dundee
the room was a good size, clean and beautifully decorated. The bed was king size and very comfortable. Breakfast was very good with an excellent choice.
The bars in the hotel had a great range off popular beers and wines.
Very clean and fantastic nights sleep in the most comfortable bed. Unfortunately I have had to cut my stay short, as was pulled out of work nearby to go further away, but can definitely recommend this hotel.
Hotel is in an excellent location. Staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you. The room we had was huge and very comfortable, will definitely be back to the Station Hotel. Well done guys 😊.
The staff were very happy to see us and very helpful in imparting information about the hotel and that if we had any questions, someone from the staff would be on hand to answer any questions.
This is a minimalist hotel well located in downtown Carnoustie - friendly staff and an easy check in experience. There is a grocery store just down the street that is very convenient.
Spacious, comfortable, clean room and excellent food. Good location for exploring the local area and further afield. Handy for the train into Dundee. Staff were helpful and cheerful.
Lyn is a wonderful host who is very responsive and great to deal with. The Old Manor is nicely appointed & enjoyed the beautiful sea views. Breakfast was delicious every morning
Perfect location for golf in trip, large hotel with standard facilities (bar, restaurant, pool). Room was big and had decent views (even tho facing car park can still see the sea)
Carnoustie is a fantastic location, the hotel was a convenient solution for having somewhere to stay at night during my holiday. The bar downstairs is fun & lively
Lisa was an excellent host and very friendly told us the best places to eat etc in Carnoustie very knowledgeable about the area
