Staff were so friendly and accommodating. Found us a last min table for dinner on a busy Saturday night.
Set in the historic grounds of Wivenhoe Park, this 18th-century house is next to the University of Essex campus.

This was such a quiet relaxing facility. We enjoyed the food. My husband said the beef bourguignon was the best meal he had on our 8 day UK trip. The breakfast was excellent.
In the heart of Clacton-on-Sea’s vibrant seafront, just a 5-minute stroll from the pier, the Esplanade Hotel provides modern and spacious accommodations.

The staff were very helpful and friendly
We had the family room as we were traveling with a toddler and my adult daughter
The room size and comfort was perfect for our needs
The full English breakfast was amazing!
Overall the experience was great and very good value
We will definitely book again next visit
Very pleasant relatively low key resort. The local museum is exceptional. The food available was disappointing - pub fare (fine but not for every lunch and dinner) - with no stall/restaurant selling crab sandwiches or edible shell fish.
Well worth taking the foot ferry to Point Clear for a walk. Very relaxing walks along the river as well.

Loved Brightlingsea.
Loved Brightlingsea. We were pleasantly surprised how peaceful and pretty it was. The museum was very interesting and loved the lake & beach huts. We ate at the Yachtsman twice and the Rosebud. Enjoyed our meals at both places. We travelled out most days to Mersea, Dedham, Holland -0n -Sea, Maldon and Colchester and would recommend all these places.

Brightlingsea is a quaint little town.
Brightlingsea is a quaint little town. Only one way in one way out everyone said and it’s true. Lovely fish and chips in Winkees and a great selection in the kebab shop we even brought some home there was so much left over. The pub we stayed in The Freemasons arms is so friendly and live music most weekends. We went to the promanade to see a music festival which although weather not great we still had a great time. Also it’s not far from clacton on sea where there is lots to do there. A great stay.
Spacious very clean, location, great facilities TV fridge washing machine fridge freezer, toaster kettle, internet TV,
Two toilets a bonus, modern well controlled gas boiler.
Quiet area,
Great fish restaurant the Rosebud 6 minutes walk.
Harbour area 10 minutes.
Great local bus service.
Parking nearby
To top off great owner who popped in to make sure all was ok.
Stayed here as needed a quick overnight stay in the local area, the property was well presented and very clean. Thought the pint of milk in the fridge was a very nice touch as able to make a drink on arrival.
Plenty of parking available nearby, I would definitely want to stay here again.
The central location was great with a couple of pubs practically across the street. It was located a walk from a pub with food and no restaurants were nearby but it is really a self catering stay with a commual kitch and dining area. We had a comfortable and enjoyable couple of nights.
Location was brilliant. Excellent for exploring Essex and Brightlingsea was lovely. It was a cosy house with good facilities in a very quiet area and a Co-op was literally 5 minutes walk away. Would rate the cottage as 3 star not 4 for the reasons stated below....
It's a self catering accommodation with a good arrangement of cooking/eating utensils , as we were visiting friends nearby we ate out most of the time but cooked our breakfast with no problems
Lovely accommodation - clean and comfortable in an idyllic rural setting. Welcoming host and a short drive to a small town with everything you need. Perfect for a weekend away with the kids.
