Breakfast was an option, but we opted instead to use the communal refrigerator and eat a cold breakfast that we purchased at the nearby market. We were offered the use of the area for dinner if we had wanted to get takeaway. That type of flexibility is nice when you have been traveling for a while.
Quietly located within the Scottish Borders. Free high-speed WiFi is available in all areas and there is free onsite parking. This Victorian property also features many original features.

This hotel is well established and long running and you feel it here. A warm and welcome feeling upon arrival persisted throughout our four day/three night stay. We had dinner twice in the main dining room which is more formal than the pub atmosphere around the bar. The food was delicious and the white table cloth service flawless. Breakfasts in the pub area—included in our rate—were also first rate and, again, with service to match. We’d make a point of staying here again.

Staff team great, helpful, friendly a credit to the Kings Arms. Food good, and the cask ales were also good, this hasn't always been the case in the past, so I was delighted. At the improvements.

A lovely small town with interesting statues of Mungo Park and Walter Scott. I didnt get a chance to look at the museum. But Loch Haining is well worth a visit and the 18th century house The Haining is in a spectacular location overlooking the loch and is going to make a spectacular wedding venue when restored. I spent a lovely Friday evening walking round the loch which is five minutes walk from the centre of Selkirk

An interesting looking town that I would like to get to know better. Excellent meals out at the Fleece Inn and Kitchen and at Number One Bistro. The Riding of the Marches was on which showed the community spirit.

Selkirk is a small border town with small individual shops and cafes. We stayed 3 nights at Philipburn Hotel on the edge of Selkirk and really used it as a base to tour around other places in the borders, Floors Castle, Kelso, Melrose, Scotts View.

There's not a lot actually in Selkirk - it is suffering as are so many places with the impact of C-19, but it's a good base for Holy Island and the Roslyn Chapel.
We booked the County Hotel as it's in the centre and as we were travelling by motorcycle wanted to be at somewhere that provided food or was available in walking distance.
I travel frequently and stay in a huge assortment of properties. While this hotel is still (quite rightly) exercising an abundance of caution regarding COVID-19 precautions it is not open to then general public and therefore the front desk isn't available other than for check-in/check out, so the place does tend to look closed at first sight.
However, the interior, the welcome, the unpretentious hearty food and the service from the staff couldn't be better.
I never usually complete surveys. This time I will as my stay was so good. The cottage was clean fresh and tidy, the rooms were roomy and light and far better than any equivalent priced hotel could ever offer, the owners provided a welcome hamper. It was a perfect place to stay in a beautiful part of Southern Scotland I will return

Our host Sonny was extremely welcoming, friendly and hospitable. The property is a majestic building which sits high above the road. Our room, though small, was clean and comfortable. Our dinners and breakfasts were delicious. Plenty of off-road parking. Enjoyed our stay.
Everything about the hotel was lovely. It was a beautiful clean room with a lovely view and the breakfast was delicious. You decided the night before from a selection of options what you would like and so everything was just as you wanted the next morning.
The food served at the County Hotel was fabulous. Both brekfast and the evening meals were cooked expertly and were more than we expected.
The staff were amazing and looked after us perfectly well. They were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble.
The Tushielaw Inn is a traditional inn that has escaped the relentless updating of chain establishments. Don't visit if you want a smart, modern hotel, but if the prospect of an experience evocative of past decades intrigues you, soak it up.
The breakfast was phenomenal and we enjoyed it a lot. The owners of the hotel are very friendly and supportive. We are recommending the hotel and we will join the hotel again when we visit again the scottish borders.
Family run hotel and the nicest family you could wish to meet. Rooms were comfy and we both liked the decor. Great food too. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and no hesitation in recommending Heatherlie House Hotel.
