This is a great little hotel. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. David is very knowledgeable of the area. Leigh made me feel like I was more than just another random guest. The food is fantastic. Really just a great little hotel. If I ever make it back to this side of the world again, definitely staying here again.

Second single bed also in the room.Nice 2 seater sofa, large wall mounted TV with link to Netflix and a small kitchen area with fridge with fresh milk, microwave oven, toaster and kettle with full range of hot drinks. If I were to stay at the Nook again, I would just stay as a couple and use the single bedroom bathroom as the main bathroom and a dressing room.. The price is right and better than many units that only have one bedroom and bath.

Bardon Mill is a small village, but hosts a unique pottery business and has easy access to the A69, enabling you to get to Newcastle or Carlisle very easily and, of course, all the various places in between. Housesteads Roman Fort is just a few minutes drive, as is Vindolanda The area is rural, rugged and beautiful

The Bowes Hotel has the feel and atmosphere of a happy family. The cooked breakfast and dinner portions were large. We especially enjoyed our Thai meals. On the day we arrived the hotel was able to accommodate us and four guests for dinner at short notice. The room and en-suite were clean and well stocked. We found the owners and staff to be chatty and friendly - it made us feel ‘seen’ and welcomed.

Love the Bowes Hotel!! In Bardon Mill!! Beautiful village.
Love the Bowes Hotel!! In Bardon Mill!! Beautiful village. The hotel is Very clean and comfortable. I felt completely welcomed by all the people that worked there and didn’t work there!! It’s a small English village and you are welcomed like a local. Easy access to the Hadrian’s wall and Vindolanda. Bus 685 takes you right up to and AD 122 will take you anywhere on the way. Total time 5 minutes. Excellent experience!!!
The room clean and comfortable.
The pub friendly and food delicious. We were there 7 days and worked our way through the menu. All food was great. The owner Ian Millar was very hospitable. Has expert knowledge of the Roman history of the area and was kind enough to drive us to the Roman Fort. The staff could not have been more attentive and kind. I highly recommend The Bowes Hotel. Locals congregate at the pub and we befriended several of them.
Excellent location next to Hadrian's Wall, and the Vindolanda ruins. The room was comfortable and had a lovely view onto the countryside. Breakfast was good quality buffet, with lots of choices. Dinner was convenient in the pub downstairs. They also had a small shop selling useful items, like toothpaste (we forgot ours in a previous hotel) and painkillers.
Quality of staff. Cheery and professional.Foodand drink excellent. Decor and interiors fresh and contemporary but with traditional ambience.Bardon Mill a very lively village. Pottery factory v.interesting and pub + local shop = community centre.A perfect stop over to visit Hadrians Wall. Surrounding landscape spectacular.
This was the most expensive room on our 6 different hotels trip completing the Hadrians Wall Path. It was also our least favourite. The shower pressure was really bad. Not what you want after walking 10 hours. We had dinner in the hotel and the onion rings we ordered came in their own bowl and were swimming in oil.
The hotel was spotlessly clean and recently refurbished. It is listed in a gorgeous village, close (by car) to Hadrians Wall attractions. Included breakfast is wonderful and the pub restaurant downstairs has good food. It's small and fairly quiet, and a good place to share travel tips with other guests. We loved it!
Very comfortable and clean. Staff are more than nice. Food great. Good pack lunches for our walks. One of our group is vegan and the staff went out of their way to prepare her special meals. We were given lifts to places we needed to start our walk. Definately recomend this hotel.
Great service and food. Breakfast was especially good with wide variety to choose from. Location is perfect for Hadrian’s Wall and other popular walks in the area. Hotel is extremely dog friendly and even helped us with basic wash facilities for our spaniels after our muddy walk.
The atmosphere … feeling free to enjoy and have a drink on the terrace … the combi between pub and hotel and most of all the kindness of staff … txs for the tips from the breakfast lady and instructions about what to see @Hadrian’s wall! Verrryyy useful!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Bowes Hotel. The accommodation was very good and the food was great ... no need to search elsewhere for a restaurant. All the staff were welcoming and helpful.
Absolutely stunning hotel.Great location on Hadrians Way walking trip.Food was fab and the best breakfast all week of the trip.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Highly recommend 👌.
Everything was perfect! The welcoming staff, the beautiful food, the lovely room with a balcony! The location of course. A nice pub hotel in an idyllic setting. We will return!
