The Royal Victoria & Bull Hotel, hotel in Aylesford

Ideally located in the center of Rochester, The Royal Victoria & Bull Hotel offers accommodations with city view. Free private parking are available.

make no mistake this is a budget hotel and looks like it in some areas. But it is on the High Street and it is friendly and clean. And it is half price of any other hotel in the area. This time we paid a little more for a suite and we had a king sized bed, a big room and even bigger ensuite bathroom a lovely free standing antique bath.

The Black Horse Inn, hotel in Aylesford

This rural Inn is set in a peaceful Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 4.5 miles from magnificent Leeds Castle. It offers charming, individually styled rooms with Wi-Fi and a lovely garden.

We have stayed at this property several times before and we have always found it to be good. However this time there were several niggles particularly with staff. They were predominantly young and not very hospitable. Poor eye contact - not responding to questions but going off to find more senior staff - my wife has a bad hip and I was tending to our dogs in the car park. They sent her out to fill in our registration and then - sent her out again to get me to pay. They said the reason for this was that a customer had left that day without paying or leaving his card details. When I stated that I had left my card details with Booking.com they said this was irrelevant. At check out they sent us to a reception building in the grounds to pay an additional £20 for our two dogs - not mentioned in my Booking.com reservation. I was asked if our stay was OK and I raised these issues but they were indifferent to the that we had not had these issues previously and stated that any t&c’s of Booking.com were nothing to do with them and that as I had a balance owing it was necessary to drag us to reception. The place is very busy and the impression given was that if we didn’t like their poor service - tough! The receptionist was very combative and indifferent rather than rude - not a good look!

Old-world village. Great pubs. Ate at the chequers pub.

Old-world village. Great pubs. Ate at the chequers pub. Great staff. Shame public toilets are permanently shut as on the pilgrims way! Us pilgrims need a loo stop. Church definitely worth a look. Very interesting church organ.
