Loved this quaint, comfortable motel with a super friendly staff and excellent food. The pub time with the locals was such a wonderful experience - felt like we were a part of the neighborhood. Great location just outside of Beccles that is an easy walk or catch the local bus into town.

Whenever I am in Oulton Broad/Lowestoft I stay at the Ivy, and have done so for a number of years. The location next to the Broads is restful, the rooms are excellent. and the staff are super friendly. Generally, I don't eat in Hotel restaurants, but I make an exception at the Ivy. Having the same menu in either a formal dining, or a relaxed dining area is awesome. The food has always been good, I've met the chef (Owner) and he produces good food every time.

The photos do not Fritton Lake justice. The facilities are excellent- pool, tennis, lake activities, sauna etc. it kept myself and a teenager happily busy. The lake was like those you see in American films.
The clubhouse itself is well decorated and has a great relaxed feel to it. It was fully booked whilst we were there but never felt like it- very relaxed and did not feel busy.

GREAT LOCATION:
-Just on the outskirts of the town we were visiting - Lowestoft.
-Adjacent to Carlton Marshes, which is a great place to run/walk and/or birdwatch or simply nature hike - all the way to Oulton Broad or Beccles actually. So, hotel would be a great base for hikers and/or twitchers!
-Also next door to the East Anglian Transport Museum - a very underrated place to visit.
LOVELY BUILDING:
-I remember this as Hedley House from 35 or so years ago. New owners have done a really nice job in restoring the charming character of this building. It is nicely appointed, comfortable and warm.
-Rooms were nicely appointed, even with no aircon.
NICE STAFF:
Small and friendly staff - from check in through to the restaurant, which served up really nice food. The breakfast was super, and well worth it.
