I have stayed in the Mash Tun on numerous occasions and always have enjoyed my stay, due to the friendliness of staff etc. and the excellent food and room comfort.
However on this recent visit, the only positive was the room comfort.
To edit: The mile long tree lined High Street has an attractive square and village green and situated right in the centre of the Village is the Aberlour Hotel.

We loved the quirky hotel. Award winning Cullen Skink for supper and nice spacious room. We especially liked playing old records on the record player in our room.

Location was great, it was lovely to sit outside and watch the river running by. The house was clean and warm and the beds very comfortable. Kitchen was small but adequate for all our needs. If staying longer ( we were there 3 nights) then perhaps washing and drying facilities would be good. will definitely recommend to others.
Situated in Aberlour, the recently renovated Coachmans Cottage features accommodation 12 km from Elgin Cathedral and 39 km from Huntly Castle.

Amazing place. We were a group of four and we felt that we always had space in the house. Perfect location to visit Dufftown and all the distilleries nearby.. also a great place to head north to the coast and spot dolphins.

Lovely accommodation, less than five minutes drive from Aberlour for all the shops and foods you want. Wi-Fi worked, not great speed but stable connection for those interested around 7 Mbps for me.

Great butchers on the high street, amazing deli and wine shop and a great whiskey shop as well. Decent local supermarket. The Hotel has a really nice bar that serves excellent draught beers. Plenty of local whiskey distilleries. Brilliant fish and chip shop.
Beautiful walks along the river and a decent play area for children.
Amazing fishing on the river spey that can be booked at The Aberlour Hotel and the cost doesn't break the bank.

A nice little town with all the basics, Co-op, Ironmongers, Paper shop and Spey Larder with luxury foods.
A good Fish & Chip Shop and Chinese Takeaway.
The river walks run very close to the town centre.
There are a couple of pubs, at least, but we didn't try any.
A pretty Scottish Highland Town with beautiful countryside surroundings.
And quite level to walk around.

If you are a whisky lover, the place needs no introduction.
If you are a whisky lover, the place needs no introduction. If not, still a pretty little village in a scenic setting. Lots of waking opportunities and ever more distillery visit chances. As they all close at 5 or before, we developed a habit of visiting well-appointed whisky bars, which offer you an amazing selection of a wide range of brands. They even provide fair advice on dram discoveries, I suppose less biased than at any distillery.

The walk along the river spey is very easily accessible and an easy and beautiful walk. The chippy is good. The Dowans Hotel was excellent. The Mash Tun had good atmosphere and choice of whisky but the food was average. Public transport is good and the bus stand in the town displays electronic bus times. Parking in the town is free and plentiful. There is a beautiful delicate essence/food and sandwich shop called the Speyside Larder.

Our first time in that neck of the woods.
Our first time in that neck of the woods. Aberlour is positively huge in comparison to a much smaller Dufftown, where we started our trip! Both towns, and all the surrounding areas are beautiful, calm, quiet, feeling very secluded and out of the way when coming up from Edinburgh! The walks anywhere around there are amazing, but especially in Aberlour along the river Spey, which looked wild, pristine, clear and sparkling.
Mash Tun hotel and whiskey bar is amazing, and the food better than anywhere we have eaten in the Highlands, and better than most places in Edinburgh.
The location is perfect to visit distilleries in Speyside. It is safe, private, and quiet. The hosts are nearby and they are responsive and welcoming. The room itself is more like a small house, homey and tastefully decorated. The kitchen is extraordinarily well equipped. There are thoughtful, cozy amenities all throughout. We stayed there on the coldest days of the year and there were many means to keep ourselves and the room warm.
Loved our stay here. Everyone at the Mash Tun was so friendly and the room was fantastic. Our room was spacious and clean, the view from the window out over the river was stunning and the bed was so comfy! The food in the restaurant for dinner is amazing, as was breakfast. I also accidentally left without paying (I felt absolutely awful) and Karen was very kind about the whole thing. I couldn’t recommend it enough.
Very well appointed hotel. Staff very helpful and very polite. Attention to detail great. Food was very good. Fine dining experience wonderful. Only negative was that the dining rooms due to wooden flooring became very noisy and was difficult when all tables occupied to enjoy conversation. Our stay was very enjoyable.
The stay was fantastic! So peaceful and enjoyable, we didn't want to come home. Staff were so friendly and accommodating, especially when we asked to extend our stay. Plenty to do in Aberlour and is within walking distance of the distillery and a beautiful waterfall.
Would 100% stay again. Thank you so much!
The property was the in the perfect location for everything we wanted to do in Speyside. Sharen was a very gracious host and gave us some wonderful recommendations. The place was very cozy and had everything we needed for the perfect stay!
- We had been to the hotel before for lunch and had an amazing lunch in September 2020. That is what brought us back and made us want to stay. We booked for two nights in May 2021.
- Our wait staff was really accommodating and nice.
A stunning house, set in a stone courtyard surrounded by beautiful countryside. The property is fresh and spotlessly clean throughout. The bedrooms are boutique hotel quality and everything is well equipped. Wifi signal was strong.
The location is great, very central to distilleries, restaurants and tourist spots in Speyside. Heating is amazing so no issues in cold weather. Our host was friendly, helpful and responsive. Would return without a doubt.
We loved everything about this property. Colin and Sarah were lovely hosts. The bedroom/bathroom beautifully appointed and comfortable.
Breakfast delicious and a lovely menu to choose from. Very quiet rural area.
Beautiful location in Aberlour Close to amenities and great roads for driving to the coast. Lovely static home, very clean and well equipped. We had a great time there and would visit again in the future.
the hotel manager gave us the warmest welcome that we felt like the mash tun was our home. we received the friendliest and most attentive service for the duration of our stay. I didn’t want to leave 😢
The Barn is lovely and very cosy, it is clear that well designed, it has all the necessities.
it is 15 mins walk away from Aberlour distillery and 15 mins walk from GlenAllachie
Eileen and Jim are wonderful hosts, and the room was very cozy and spotless when it comes to hygiene. 5 stars and highly recommended for those who are visiting Aberlour.
