Le Relais de Franc Mayne Saint Emilion, hotel in Saint-Émilion

Le Relais De Franc Mayne is a guest house located in a 7-hectares vineyard, 0.6 mi from the medieval village of St. Emilion on the ancient Gallo-Roman path. The property was renovated in 2019.

We loved everything about this chateau; the breakfasts, the staff, the comfort, and the quiet. We did not want to leave as this was our favorite place on our 23 day trip through France and Barcelona Spain. My grand-daughter and I had a couple of sessions of playing pool which was one of our favorite events on this trip besides a soccer game in Barcelona. What a great place to relax and enjoy the Bordeaux area. We took the informative wine tour and enjoyed our tasting very much.

We went for a wine tour so St-Emilion is the best base for the right bank. Food and wine options are better value for the connoisseur than in Bordeaux. Dozens of wineries surround the town and the terrain is flat on the vineyards - not in the town itself which seems to sit on a slope.

Saint-Emilion was the best stop on our trip thus far. We are staying in our 8th hotel right now & not one compares to the hospitality shown to us in st. Emilion. It is the most beautiful village. I will be back next year.

It is a beautiful town, with an interesting history. The food was excellent everywhere we ate. Take comfortable shoes as the cobblestones can be quite uneven at places. Take as many wine tastings as possible - the wine is soooo good. Don't miss out on the unique local macarons either. Do the historic tours and walks, it is all just so good for the soul.

The medieval town was compact, but not suitable for disabled visitors, as the streets were steep and there were many stairs. Roads were cobbled, so wheelchairs were difficult to navigate around. However, as our group were all able bodied it was not a problem for us. As you would expect from a premier town, prices were fitting for the experience. I would go again and stay in the town again, as day visitors did not have the luxury of the facilities behind the streets! We ate in 3 restaurants, the best by far was Restaurant Le Tertre. Booking essential, I booked 3 months in advance to make sure we got a table! We did the miniature train trip around the wineries in the location, excellent stop with wine tasting and celler visit. It's a must visit town.

It's a magical city but be prepared to do some walking...

It's a magical city but be prepared to do some walking wearing flat shoes with non-slip soles due to the hilly and narrow roads being preserved as they were a gazillion years ago. There are many shops to peak the interests of many. Parking would be the most challenging event so keep the vehicle of choice the smaller the better. The historic Catholic Church has 9AM services on Sunday's who welcome parishioners. Most businesses speak a fair amount of English if French is not your primary language. Credit cards are preferred. The surrounding vineyards are immaculate and the streets are very clean and inviting!

The property has been newly renovated. It is cozy and beautifully decorated. We much appreciated having a king-sized bed in our room. Maison du Clocher is ideally located, on a quiet street, in the heart of medieval Saint-Emilion, just a few steps from the monolithic church. No need to drive anywhere, there were plenty of restaurants nearby! The property owner went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. She made all of our dining reservations for us. She served a delicious continental breakfast every morning.

Christof and Christine went out of their ways to make us feel at home, and make great restaurant & activity recommendations-- even telling us best places to park! The breakfast was wonderful, but the warmth from these 2 folks even better. Great place to stop over & visit. St. Emilion is a medievil town, with a very interesting history, interesting architecture, and very quaint cobblestone streets with shops (and great restaurants here & wine tasting nearby).

The hotel was close to St. Emilion and was part of a winery. The view overlooked the vineyards. We were given a recommendation for lunch.in St. Emilion. It was associated with the ownership of the winery and made for a pleasant lunch. Our stay was relaxing and quiet and quite luxurious after a week at a B&B in the Perigord. It also was away from the center of St. Emulsion at a time when the city was filled with many tourists.l

Everything: Eric, the host, is by far the best I have ever encountered in my years of travel rentals. Even prior to our meeting, Eric was helpful and responsive. He even met us at the train station upon arrival and brought us to his beautiful apartment—- right out of the pages of an architecture magazine. This is a restoration of love and care and the decor reflects this. Beds are comfortable and the bathrooms beautiful.

What a pleasure to arrive at our hotel with parking at the door! The staff were so friendly always making sure that our every needs were being met, from offering to do our laundry to booking restaurants and wine tastings for us which, by the way are right outside the front door! The location was perfect for strolls down the narrow and nearly pedestrian streets. And the petit déjeuner was delocious!

A beautiful, spacious and modern bedroom and ensuite attached to an equally beautiful shared kitchen/dining room in a historic building. A delightful breakfast was provided each morning by our warm and friendly hosts who were also busy producing amazing wine. I highly recommend staying here when visiting the town of Saint-Emilion and wine region.

The location, accommodations, breakfast, and hosts were superb! Jean-Francois and Laurent created a B&B and Saint-Emilion experience beyond our expectations. The hotel is in walking distance to the ancient village for dinners and vineyards for wine tasting. We also immensely enjoyed meeting other travelers during our week-long stay.

The location was really exceptional, with restaurants, tourist attractions etc directly outside the hotel. The rooms are basic but the beds are very comfortable. We really didn't spend a lot of time in our rooms as we were out sight seeing, sampling wine and exceptional food around the town. A very decent 3 star.
