L’Hospitalet de Llobregat is roughly midway between Barcelona El Prat Airport and the centre of the Catalan capital, which makes it a popular accommodation choice. One of these – the Hesperia Hotel – is a landmark in its own right, as its bulbous tower encloses a panoramic restaurant. Other innovative skyscrapers pepper the skyline – a sign of the city’s financial importance. Fira Barcelona Montjuic is a busy exhibition centre and across the road is the large Gran Via 2 Shopping Centre.
Metro stations on the Gran Via connect Hospitalet de Llobregat to Plaça d'Espanya. It is also linked to Barcelona Sants by trains from the station near El Centre, the oldest district.
