Silvaplana is very small and quiet village: supermarket, bakery, ski shop and a couple of restaurants. Cross country ski trails are 10 min walk across the bridge and there are regular buses to take you around to nearby villages. It was perfect place for star gazing and having quality family time :)

Take a mounting bike and ride around the lakes and through the forests. Or take your bike up with the cable car and enjoy the downhill!
Try the awesome cake at the Mountain Lodge Conrads in Silvaplana.
The bus system is very efficient. You don't really need your own car to get around.
Everything is a bit more costly than usual, but hey, you will get swiss quality and therefore value for money :o)

Gorgeous mountain trekking around Silvaplana with great views of the different mountains and the lakes of Engadine. Also perfect for biking tours around the lakes.
There is an electric bus that gets you back from one town to another.
We ate at the Hotel Bellavista in Silvaplana. It was great food and a very nice venue but the prices are expensive.

Silvaplana was the first choice we wanted to visit when we were looking to travel there. It was better then what we had expected. The views were just something out of the picture even better. Everything in the area was so beautiful and unforgettable. Most people we met around the area were really friendly and there is so many different areas there which we were able to visit each day of the stay. There were lots of activities to do which were child friendly and that really helped because we had two children with us. Most of all the place was incredible, there is not enough words to describe how beautiful everything was. It was perfect.
The hotel was super clean. The very friendly staff went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed. The receptionist sat us down upon arrival, offered us a welcome drink, and advised us on activities that we could do in the area. They even gave us passes to use on area trams and public transport. That saved us a bunch of money. The included breakfast was excellent and the pizza they have for dinner was one of the best we have had. We wished we could have spent more time there. We will be back for sure.
We had a great stay in hotel Albana in the middle of October: the room was cozy, spa was very nice, both restaurants are amazing (and you can order from both of them!) and the service is just superb - they arranged our transfer and were super flexible with restaurants and spa. Last but not least - fresh and flavourful estonian bread is delicious! It made breakfasts really special. We will definitely come back!
The hospitality in this Hotel is exceptional. Every single member of staff that we interacted with was friendly, helpful and willing to go the extra mile. The Hotel clearly knows what he is doing, cares deeply and this impacts the atmosphere in such a positive way. We were both super impressed by how relaxing and luxurious this stay was without feeling at all pretentious.
This aparthotel was at the top of the town, a bit of a walk on foot but a parking garage if by car. The balcony had a sunny spot to enjoy a view of the lake and mountains. The apartment felt spacious and the bed was comfortable. We were able to do laundry right in the building. It was a short walk to the little grocery store.
Beautiful, traditional hotel with a lovely mix of modern and traditional features inside. Wonderful views of the mountains from the restaurant. Added bonuses of Wellness facilities in the basement and free secure parking. Would highly recommend the Thai cuisine offered in the restaurant.
The breakfast/dining room was perfect, located on the first floor of the lodge. The staff was very friendly and the food exceptional, especially the pizza. Hard to believe being from Chicago we would find such an outstanding pizza in Switzerland.
