The property was easy to find. When I messaged ahead of time, I got a response. The owner, Nate, greeted us on arrival and had made special accommodations for us (ice cream! It was delicious and perked up some hot, tired kids just perfectly!) He also kept an eye out and notified me when we had a caller (I forgot to mention was coming...truly, we felt safe and well cared for-.like friends more than customers. The swimming hole was a treat for the kids AND the Dad - he didn't swim, but he did spot Howler monkeys! That there is water still in the driest dry season in more than 10 years is also a big plus- so many stream beds were dry and the falls were a trickle I was told. The swimming hole The room was air conditioned- which kept it about 15 degrees cooler than outside, and the triple beds fit our family of five comfortably! Fresh fruit was amazing! We were able to take some on the road when our day started unreasonably early 😉. It was very clean, and the fridge worked well. The property is beautiful with flowers and trees in abundance, as well as clear areas of grass. There was a circular drive that makes turning around or loading passengers so much easier. And the lane to drive back was smooth! The location is very convenient to PG. We would certainly recommend staying here. We felt more like guests than customers and hope to get back here again.... oh, and the fry Jack's! Yum 😋 We found ping pong paddles and balls (and even a net) and hit it back and forth enough to determine we need more practice to improve our hand- eye coordination 🤣😎. Dominoes may have also been played after breakfast... games were provided also- really very Family friendly!

BlueBelize B&B, hotel in Punta Gorda

Providing garden views, BlueBelize B&B in Punta Gorda offers accommodations and a garden. This beachfront property offers access to free Wifi and free private parking.

The property was wonderful. I booked the place last minute despite my in and out internet service. (Not to self pay for a month of international service next time you travel). Anyway, I was arriving past the checking time but Florita the host had no problem. As an aside I was planning on taking the Water Taxi to Puerto Barrios, Guatemala from there. She was kind enough to set up a taxi ride for me and even made me an early breakfast. (Ask her how to find a ripe Papaya). Punta Gorda is a small town. Fun to wander around but for me I enjoyed the sounds of nature and silence. Oh! the rooms and apartments are lovely.

Sun Creek Lodge, hotel in Punta Gorda

Featuring free WiFi, a barbecue and a terrace, Sun Creek Lodge offers accommodations just 3.7 mi from Punta Gorda Town. Guests can enjoy the lush garden.

For a jungle lodge this place is very well taken care of. Marisa and Thomas were amazing hosts and really helped me figure a great couple days. The location is easy to get to via bus and the facilities were nice and clean. As a solo traveler there were options for me in a shared cabin, but there are options for really any type of traveler and even family. The nature is amazing in the surrounding areas. Highly recommend.

Copal Tree Lodge a Muy'Ono Resort, hotel in Punta Gorda

Located in Toledo Settlement, Copal Tree Lodge provides accommodations with free WiFi, air conditioning and access to a garden. Some units have a dining area and/or a terrace.

We had an exceptional experience from beginning to finish! From our amazing checkin and front desk staff, to the boat captain and guides, grounds keepers/attendants/helpers and snorkel and chef crew- to restaurant and housekeeping staff and else on property. I’ve never experienced a more kind and happily helpful with initiative and good intentions staff, ever. And I’m very well traveled. A little pricey- but worth every penny. Most special, for me, was the dedication to accommodation for accessibility needs! They lack greatly in Belize and in our week long trip to multiple locations & establishments of all kinds- this was hands down the most happily willing and motivated to accommodate as much as possible staff and establishment!!!! Kudos!!!

Not much is happening in Punta Gorda.

Not much is happening in Punta Gorda. There are a few restaurants, many bars on Front Street, and a large market down town. It seems that people from outlying towns come here to shop. We stopped as a way point from San Pedro, Belize, to Livingston, Guatemala. At this time, ferries between the two run only once a day, five days a week. We came on a Saturday, expecting to catch the Sunday ferry, but had to stay over until Monday.

It is a part of Belize that has not been inundated by foreigners seeking warmer temperatures in the winter. The community is on the coast and it is very small but it gives the visitor a sense of the diversity of the Belizean population and the culture of Belize. It is possible to stay at interesting places and there are several interesting archaelogical sites in the area. There are good restaurants there as well.

If you are in Belize - we recommend everyone to come all the way to the south and discover the Maya Mountains and see Punta Gorda. If you are here on a Market day - don't miss it and come to stroll through the market. you will enjoy it. Remember this is a tiny town and there are not that many attractions as well there are no beaches. But you will find a lot of very nice people and great local restaurants. If you are here your amongst the Belizean people
