We stayed for two nights, once after arriving on the bus from Managua and then again when returning on the boat from El Castillo. It is in the perfect location for the bus terminal and boat port (2 minute walk). The rooms are basic but clean. Great value for money.

The hotel had secure parking for our two motorbikes. For a fee they let us park our bikes there for an evening while we did an overnight excursion up river.

Modest and comfortable rooms. Good wifi. We were there before heading on to Nicaragua. The owner was very helpful to make sure we had what we needed before leaving. Very nice Costa Rica typical breakfast. Great location a couple blocks off the highway from the big stores/bus station. 4 or so blocks from the river park and bank. Los Chiles is also a pretty quiet town, which was nice. The river front park is new too and nice for our kids. We will definitely stay there again next time we are coming through the area.

Boasting a garden, Posada Rural Oasis is situated in Caño Negro. There is a children's playground and guests can make use of free WiFi and free private parking. We spent 2 weeks at the Posada Oasis and truly enjoyed every second of it. Absolutely marvelous place, a true idyllic Oasis. Located in a beautiful huge garden, full of splendid flowers, fruit trees and tropical plants. Our hosts, Alba and Oscar, were simply wonderful. They kept showing us interesting animals and plants in the garden, treated to some delicious local fruit and even invited us to plant 2 trees :) We had some nice interesting talks with both of them, they were very helpful, considerate and caring at all times, from the moment we arrived till seeing us off to the bus. Thank you so much for everything!!!± Their daughter Carla, sons and grandsons helped around the property too and were always extremely accommodating and nice. There was a perfect balance of providing guests with privacy and being close enough at all times to assist if needed. A local shop is around 10 minutes walk. We cooked our meals in a lovely shared outdoor kitchen, very well equipped. Strong 2 fans in the room, very comfortable bed, nice bathroom with big shower. Regular housekeeping. Amazing hammock on each porch, I could spend hours in there, just chilling and admiring the beautiful garden and numerous hummingbirds and butterflies. Lack of multiple lights = wonderful night sky, we saw Milky Way and ridiculous amount of stars.

Offering an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Hotel de Campo is located in Caño Negro Wildlife Reserve in Alajuela. Free WiFi access is available in this property in limited areas. This is an amazing lodge run by Andrea and his wonderful team. Andrea provides wonderful boat tours to this exceptionally beautiful region. Cano Negro is a birder's dream and Andrea will make the experience even better. In his lodge alone you can see more than 100 species including the beautiful toucans and also rare wrens and all kind of colorful Tanagers and of course the famous Cano Negro waterbirds. You can also see the usually very shy Spider Monkeys very close when they visit his garden. Well done and we come again!

The hotel is tastefully set in beautiful natural surroundings. The staff team were very helpful is organising our trips & arranging breakfast to go for a very early start. Food was wonderful.

Located in Caño Negro, 46 km from Rio Celeste Waterfall, Poponjoche Lodge Caño Negro provides accommodation with free WiFi, air conditioning and access to a garden with a terrace. Great accommodation in Cano Negro. Family who run it is really nice and helpful, there were no problem with anything. The accommodation is really nice, it sits in a large garden which is connected to small lagoon. It is clean, has coffee maker (which is important for me:). Next to the Poponjoche is restaurante Fogon, which has the best meal I ate during our month in Costa Rica. We are birdwatchers so wanted to take the tour on lagoons. We did our search in the village and than decided to take son of owner of Poponjoche as guide since he can speak english. His father who is good bird guide went also with us. We were happy we choose them. Beware, there is NO BUS from Cano Negro to Upala or Los Chiles on Sunday!!! And taxi can get really expensive on this day.
