Boasting a garden and views of mountain, Pearl's Homestay Matale is a recently renovated holiday home situated in Matale, 27 km from Kandy City Center Shopping Mall. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. When my driver edged up the narrow-inclined driveway of this very modern home, I didn’t know what to expect. But Pearle and her husband Ranjan greeted me with broad smiles and open arms. After they had retired, they built this sophisticated home on their family’s property. Since the terrain of Matale is mostly mountainous, their home is perched up high on a small hill, allowing a beautiful view of the city from their wide terrace. Communication was swift and efficient as their daughter fielded email questions from the UK. English was spoken perfectly by all members of the family, so no worries for any miscommunication. I had arrived in the late afternoon and Pearle offered me tea. Ranjan returned with some short eats and we sat around chatting. The conversation was easy and I felt like I was visiting good friends for the afternoon. My room was located just off their living room with an adjacent bathroom with contemporary fixtures – it felt like I was in a fancy hotel! The stylish room with extremely high ceilings was spacious and tastefully decorated with an enormous mosquito net tied with ribbons around the large four poster bed. There is a portable air conditioner/fan which was not really needed as the evenings are usually cool and temperate. Breakfast was a luxurious feast with red rice string hoppers, potato curry, dal, green gram and a delicious, spicy chicken curry. Watermelon, pineapple, and sweet juicy papaya from their garden rounded out the meal. After retirement, Pearle turned her interests to cooking and she is certainly an accomplished cook! My only regret was staying only one night and will certainly come back for a longer visit!

Situated near Pidurangala Rock and Sigiriya Museum, Roo Mansala Boutique Villas is in Sigiriya and features free private parking and a restaurant. The property has mountain and pool views, and is 3 km from Sigiriya Rock. The accommodation offers a shuttle service, while a bicycle rental service is also available. The room is even nicer than the photos. Great view from the room, and it's very clean and comfy. Our visit in Sri Lanka had a lot of power cut, but the hotel has generator, so no need to worry. Highly recommened.

Rooms are located on a a really well kept property in Sigiria and is run by Dinu and her lovely family. The room and bathroom were modern, and extremely clean. The breakfast provided was always substantial and really tasty!

The lodge had a beautiful and peaceful garden filled with trees, creating a serene atmosphere. The kitchen was well-equipped with all the necessary tools and appliances, including pots, pans, a gas cooker, fridge, and washing machine. The rooms were also nicely arranged and had everything we needed. The bathroom was well-maintained and clean. Overall, it was the best stay we've ever had.

Our host and his family were just lovely! They provided us with tasty treats throughout our stay and the breakfast was huge and very tasty. The air conditioner worked very well.

Boasting a 24-hour front desk, this property also provides guests with an outdoor fireplace. There is a restaurant serving Asian cuisine, free private parking and an electric vehicle charging station. The super friendly and very communicative owner gave good tips for hiking and showed us a nice waterfall nearby. Our highlight was that he organized a night-out in the village, showing us around the rice fields and the temple and serving us amazing local food in the village in the traditional way. If you are looking for a great local experience in the nature you came to the right place!

With garden views, Vihanga Village is situated in Dambulla and has a restaurant and a 24-hour front desk. It is located 22 km from Sigiriya Rock and provides a business centre. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a barbecue. If you are looking for an off the grid place to stay and discover the Dambulla area, I highly recommend the Vihanga Village. A family run place where they even provide the best breakfast ever. The Sambol is to die for with bread. The owner was such a good human that would check on us each morning and provided whatever we asked for. One of our group member had to go to the hospital late night, the owner while being sick himself, drove us to the hospital. I would go back to @vihangavillage each time I am back in the area. A beautiful cabin nestled in the woods. A true natural gem!

Located near Wildlife Range Office - Sigiriya and Sigiriya Museum, Sigiri Dilu Villa is in Sigiriya and provides free private parking and a restaurant. The property was built in 2016 and features air-conditioned accommodation with a terrace. Each room has a balcony with views of the garden. Stay in Sigiri Dilu Villa was very pleasent. The owner was so helpful. He took us by tuk tuk to the rock before sunrise and also dropped us to our bus station. Apartment was comfortable, garden is great. It is good to rent a scooter as house is located in surroundings of Sigiriya.
