The locate is exellent. I was reluctant to give a good review because we consider this a hidden gem and we wanted to be able to go there when were available. We just loved it and plan to go there again for a longer stay. The host was waiting for us when we arrived. He even provided us with a fruit tray. The next day he gave us a free tour of the town. He was also available for suggestions for dining and shopping. It is located in a friendly Mexican community and we felt very safe.

Casa Merech was lovely, and the hosts were very helpful! You're in a downtown neighbourhood with locals (most locals live to the west, while all the tourist hotels are at water's edge and to the east). Some aspects of the place are a bit dated, but it is well cared for, and was extremely clean, and more importantly everything worked! Drinking water is provided. Wifi is generally slow in El Cuyo, but we got by with the 2.5mb/s speed. Cell data is really slow, so you'll be relying on the houses' wifi mostly. They even installed Star cable while we were there. We aren't TV watchers, but there are 114 channels if you are... We didn't ask for new towels or sheets over our week long stay, but I'm sure they would provide a change with no problem. The hammock and front yard lounge chairs were nice for relaxing. There's a great restaurant "La Negrita" a 30 second walk from the front door.
