Located along the peninsular coastline of southern Vietnam, Vung Tau is a seaside holiday destination that attracts tourists and locals alike. It’s easy accessibility via hydrofoil and road from Ho Chi Minh City combined with a range of attractions makes it a tourism favourite in the Ba Ria-Vung Tau province of the country.

Vung Tau enjoys an idyllic location, with the ocean and mountains forming a part of its natural landscape. Nghinh Phong Cape is a local hotspot to take in scenic views, including those of the towering Christ statue and Hon Ba islet. You can also make your way to Cong vien Tran Hung Dạo, a verdant park ideal for walking and admiring the massive statue of the celebrated Vietnamese general, Tran Hung Dao.

One of the top places to visit in Vung Tau are its soft-sand beaches. At Front Beach, you can enjoy a refreshing swim before snapping photos of boats bobbing up and down near its shore. Head to Back Beach to indulge in water sports like surfboarding and paddleboarding or Long Hai Beach and Pineapple Beach to savour majestic sunset views.

Things to do can be found aplenty in Vung Tau. Make your way to Vung Tau Lighthouse, which is a magnificent city landmark surrounded by tropical greenery. You can also visit Bach Dinh or the White Villa, a mansion housing historical artefacts and exhibits. A hike up to the Christ of Vung Tau statue situated atop Mount Nho will offer memorable ocean and coastal panoramas.

There was nothing great.

April 29, 2024

There was nothing great. You could not even have a peaceful meal without merchants approaching your table trying to sell you Their merchandise. Most of the taxi drivers take the scenic route to your destination so they can charge you more and think that I do not know the area. This is the only country I have been to so far where the cars and motorcycles drive and park on the sidewalks and if you were in the way, they will hit you. Unbelievable that motorcycles have more value than people. It says my second trip, but it is changed my opinion about this CDplace at one point I thought I would buy Property here but now I don’t think I will ever come back or recommend two friends.

Firstly, I wasn’t well when friends and I stayed.

Firstly, I wasn’t well when friends and I stayed. E Vung out. For a vining local areas and sights by taxi. Buddha, fishing village, front beach, back beach, markets etc. We thought It is a local beachside town with not much to offer international tourists. There are a lot of expats living there from the war. Very laid back lifestyle, general service was ok, not much English spoken. Wouldn’t go there again.

I loved the location and the beaches.

March 15, 2024

I loved the location and the beaches. Naturally the Vietnamese were very kind and helpful as always making the vacation very comfortable. I am not into the dancing and nightlife but that said there are many fine restaurants and places to meet people. Getting around was very simple as long as you knew and understood the local currency, taxi were clean and well maintained and the drivers will go out of their way to assist you if asked. It is too bad that it is such a long way from Saigon. They should put in a light rail system and make Vung Tao a prime destination.

Nice place , most of the nightlife and bars were round at front beach , back beach very quiet at night apart from hotels . Would advise getting a scooter as from back beach to front is a fair walk --loads of lovely seafood restaurants including David's Italian restaurant which we ate at many times and was amazing.
