Nestled in the mountains of the Western Ghats, Munnar is situated in the Indian state of Kerala. One of the largest tea-growing regions of India, this place boasts a distinct flora and fauna that attracts nature enthusiasts from all over the world.
The postcard-perfect town of Munnar offers green rolling slopes and numerous waterfalls. Attukal Falls, cascading down from a height of 1,000 metres, is located ten kilometres away from the main town. Set in the middle of a dense forest with undulating terrains, this site is a hub for trekkers and adventure seekers as well. After admiring the scenes of Attukal Falls, you can explore the renowned Echo Point. The picturesque location, with its tranquil lake and misty hills, is also known for producing a distinct echo if you shout something out in the open.
Munnar is one of the best places in Kerala to admire the traditions and deep-rooted culture of the state. Make a stop at Kalarai Kshetra, a centre that organises initiatives to promote and celebrate the dance culture of Kerala. Here, you’ll be able to watch the powerful Kalaripayattu – a centuries-old martial art form-turned-dance said to be the predecessor of kung-fu and karate. At Kalarai Kshetra, you’ll get to see the elegant and renowned Kathakali, an Indian dance form featuring heavily-painted faces and soothing Carnatic music. After a peek into the state’s colourful culture, head to the Tata Tea Museum for a glimpse of Munnar’s pre-tea plantation times.

Places like adventure sports, Jeep Safari, elephant farm, falls , boating, tea plantation. and please don't get into the spice shops, they are very expensive and not worth it. We stayed in Munnar village home.. a little distance from Munnar.. but it was great.. we loved it, we planned for a one night stay only.. after seeing the comfort, location of the homestay, we extended it to two nights. Highly recommended place for families.. climate too was great. Little rain, little sunny.. all great

Beautiful hill station with so many places to explore within city & even in catchment of 20-30 Kms in four different directions. Ample amount of food options with good connectivity of public transport.

Just spellbound, as God Himself painted on the canvas of Munnar. We got opportunity to visit spice garden, Tea plantation & Chocolate factory and some beautiful landscapes within a very short spell of time. I wish to come Munnar again to explore many more places in Munnar, where we couldn't due to lack of time we missed them.
Absolutely beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful. It was a highlight of our trip to spend time there - the air is considerably cooler and cleaner than other parts of south India so it was a welcome reprieve for us. I would say anyone going to Kerala should make it a point to go into the ghat mountains. But getting around was not easy! The roads made us all very ill. Motion sickness pills are a must. And the hotels, and towns, and tea plantations are all spread out so every day you basically will have to get back in the car for torture again. We didn't see as much as we had hoped because we were too ill and we also had not factored in how far apart everything is. But we just loved the mountain air and lush scenery anyways.

Munnar is a very interesting area to visit with a family, lots of activities for families, very easy to move around with Tuk-Tuk or for a better comfort with an open Mahindra jeep. walking around the tea plantation is breathtaking, we could also see the Elephants in a natural environment, mind blowing experience. We spent five days in Munnar and it was perfect.

26 December 2023
One needs to visit Munnar during non peak season as the roads become very congested and lot of time is wasted in travel alone. A minimum three days stay is essential to cover Munnar properly. It is better to stay on plains rather than in properties at height and access to the property through uneven clay roads.
