Despite Bali's booming popularity, Nusa Penida – the biggest of Bali's offshore islands – remains largely undeveloped. Instead of sprawling resorts and overcrowded sands, the tropical landscapes here still feel as though you have them all to yourself. On any given day, visitors are usually found lazing on secluded beaches, exploring coastal caves, hiking through virgin rainforest and connecting with nature.
Perhaps due to Nusa Penida's lack of infrastructure, beaches are the island's biggest attractions. Photo-worthy Kelingking Beach is especially famous for the dramatic cliff that hugs its stark-white sands and churning turquoise surf. The waters at Crystal Bay, on the isle's west coast, are much calmer and great for swimming and snorkelling. Farther south, Angel's Billabong is altogether different – a rock formation near Broken Beach that protects a natural infinity pool. If you're a diver, you're also in luck; Nusa Penida boasts some of Bali's best diving spots, including Toyapakeh and Manta Bay. While underwater, keep your eyes peeled for sunfish and corals.
Nusa Penida offers a handful of temples where you can catch a glimpse of Balinese spirituality. Pura Dalem Ped is among the island's largest and most important temple compounds for Hindus, who make pilgrimages here to pray away illness and evil. Housed inside airy limestone caves, Goa Giri Putri is even more unique, where Balinese people come to meditate among stalagmites and stalactites.

Nusa Penida is hard enough to get to by the time you buy boat tickets, get to the harbour, wait around, board a small hot fast boat and getting off the other end you need a driver to collect you as its busy, dusty and hot. You want to get off that boat and into an air-conditioned car straight away and be taken to your hotel. The island is beautiful; however, you will need a scooter, a car or driver. Its isolated and unless you love walking in the heat long distances you will need transport to see the sights. The night life is quiet, I think it's an island of relaxing and day adventures with not a lot of activity at night from what i saw.

We hired a motorbike to get around. The roads are quite treacherous but if you are able to ride a bike I would highly recommend it. Many people catch taxi's but we didn't want to be stuck in a hot car all day and the bike was lots of fun.
wonderful place

wonderful place Diamond beach was great Penida Colada and Mambo are great options Choti wala is a good option for Indian food Get a scooter and roam around the coastal road. I would suggest hiring a cab for sightseeing to avoid the crazy curves and slopes plus the terrible heat Angel Billabong is not worth at all.. dont waste your time

We rented a driver for 2 days and he took us to the tourist spots. The road is very small and curvy but our driver was good. The views were amazing. We had to eat at the hotel and we enjoyed the food. One day we ate at a very exclusive restaurant far away from the hotel.

If you are into breathtaking views and decent hikes up and down the steep stairway cases, sometimes rewarded with a pleasant swim in the refreshing waters - you are on to the winner! Ensure you check that the snorkelling company has all the gear and sizes you or your group requires as they will not likely return to the beach to accommodate the feet size for your fins.
Not really developed yet but moving quickly.

Not really developed yet but moving quickly. Stayed at edge of a village so saw real village life barely touched by tourism. Would have liked some independent restaurants. Need to drive to get around. Take plenty of cash as atm far and few. Beautiful island well worth a visit for a short stay.
