This modern ryokan style hotel exceeded our expectations and I wish we stayed here for more than one night! The private baths were a highlight of the experience and were very popular with all guests. You can't reserve them, so you have to wait patiently near the chairs next to the bath you want to try. In our experience most people didn't bathe for longer than 20–30 minutes, so the wait was never too long. Make sure you know which bath you want before you get there. Outside the baths are some massage chairs and a nice lounge with a beautiful view of the city. Enjoy a free ice cream while you cool down after bath time. They also give a free bowl of noodles around 9pm to all hotel guests, which was a pleasant surprise and a night treat.

The location was perfect for me, 10 minutes walking from the train / bus station and on top of a light hill, so the view from our room was incredibly nice. (This also means that if you are going on foot you have to walk uphill, no big deal for us, but if you have heavy luggage it could be difficult). Both dinner and breakfast were japanese-style, but not too traditional on both taste and texture (I say this as a plus, because my partner is not keen on super traditional Japanese cooking and still managed to eat most of his breakfast). We were also offered non-meat options beforehand, which is great! The building is a mixture of western and japanese styles, so for example the common room has high tables and chairs and a parquet, while the rooms have tatami. Everything was lovely, the common area had a beautiful terrace with a view, our room had a small balcony with outside seats and a private onsen bathtub. The owner is a very nice man and we chatted during dinner. We speak good enough Japanese, so language wasn't a problem, but the owner also speaks good enough English and is very helpful. We had free access to coffee, tea and water from the common room and two complimentary water bottles in the room.

Both free WiFi and parking on-site are accessible at the ryokan free of charge. Guests can use the hot spring bath and the public bath, or enjoy mountain views. The private onsen in the room was exceptional and the size of the room was way beyond. Great service.

Boasting a spa bath, Yufuin Yufusaryo is situated in Yufu. This 3-star ryokan offers luggage storage space and a housekeeping service. The ryokan features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. This is a small hotel, only 3 rooms, with private onsens. The room is Japanese style but with western beds, spacious and the onsen was absolutely amazing. Please note that the hotel is located in a narrow road and you need a small car to access it. Also they don't offer any meals so get your food before getting there.

Beautiful surroundings & Ryokan, very delicious meals, room and onsen were comfortable and excellent including the amenities provided. I can't wait to come back. Very Highly recommend.

Surrounded by beautiful nature, the lovely little Japanese inn Sanso Tanaka has 1 outdoor hot spring baths and 2 indoor ones, which guests can use privately without reservation. One indoor bath boasts views of Mt. Yufudake. Good view to a wide agriculture land and mt. Yufu, Clean and comfy room, private hotspring, staffs being very considerate and helpful that they cleaned our shoes and luggages when check-in, and wiped out the snow on my car when check-out.

Guests can use the 24-hour shared bath for private use and in-room massages can be request for an extra cost. JR Yufuin Train Station is a 10-minute walk away. Very nice owner who helped us to make appointment for dinner. Suggested good restaurant for breakfast. Clean and tidy place to stay. Polite and helpful staffs. Provided us traditional kimonos with right sizes, enriched our travel experience staying in Yufuin.
