I am in love with their communal public bath! It is open 3pm to 10am meaning if you wake up very early in the morning like myself you can just go down and take a nice soak rather then just lounge in the room (which is also fun but it's great to have the option). As a female, the public bath for women come with a code lock only women are provided which gives a sense of security as well which I appreciate. The hotel is literally just one staircase and a minute walk to Mito station, and is a street or two away from Mito castle ruins too, so it's really a very ideal location. The room is lovely, maybe even a bit larger then what you expect for Japanese hotel rooms and the concierge was very kind!

On the main street is everything you need for eating or having fun. Breakfast was frozen rice or pasta - actually rice was delicious. Coffee was from a pod so definitely more quality.

Situated in Ishioka, 40 km from Mito Station, HOTEL SOSHA features accommodation with free bikes, free private parking and a restaurant. We travelled with our child and stayed in the twin room at the ground floor for one night. This is the biggest room in the hotel because it could made up one more single bed for our child. The room size is good. Separate toilet and bathroom is good but the bathtub has a glass door which is inconvenient because it may cause embarrassment. The breakfast room is not big but the staff were very friendly. They served Japanese food in small dishes, vegetables salads, fresh fruits, bread, dessert, juice, coffee etc. In the cold winter, the Japanese lady served every guest with a hot Japanese delicious soup and rice, it warmed our heart. Their laundry room located at the G/F with coin laundry and dryer, convenient for us. Carpark: they have their own carpark (free of charge) in front of the hotel, we were lucky to get the last one when arrive at night.
