The location was absolutely beautiful, a perfect nature getaway with gorgeous surroundings and views. Giovanni our host, his son Tancredi, and their staff were all exceptional! Everyone was so friendly and helpful from start to finish, and they really made our stay even more special and welcoming. The beds were comfy and the rooms very clean. The food for breakfast and dinner was plentiful and delicious too :) we loved it!

Room was well appointed and the breakfast and dinner complex was stunning. We were fortunate to have dinner the first night downstairs in the room cut out of the lava rock. Dinner the second night upstairs and it is set up to be able to chat to fellow travelers. Location was great for a few days , isolated but close enough to some interesting parts of Mt Etna. Owner is extremely helpful and obviously proud of his establishment.Lots of great hikes in the area.

Fabulous woodland location like something from a fairy tale . Spotlessly clean chalet with a comfy bed , great shower and effective heating .
Giovanni is a responsive and kind host who sourced vegan products for our breakfast and immeditaly came to the property late at night to deal with an unexpected loss of power .
We felt privileged to see a fox close up .
Boasting a garden and views of mountain, Sotto Il Vulcano is a recently renovated bed and breakfast set in Nicolosi, 16 km from Catania Piazza Duomo.

Nicolosi is covered in black lava stone. Very figurative and very fertile. To the local people, living next to an active vulcano (known as female to the locals) is not always peaceful. However, when entering the Sotto II Guesthouse, all this is left behind you. From the first moment you feel at home being welcomed by the host family, a nice mid senior couple, fluent in English.
And now for the breakfast experience. Italians don't pay much attention to breakfast, and so Sotto II stands out, ranking high above ordinary BnB.
Bread from the local Il Forno, dried ham, homemade jam, fruits, real good coffee, fresh homemade juice, eggs, and I could go on.
Dont miss this place when around Etna.
