I have visited many many hostels but this has so far been the absolutely best in many ways. The price is amazing for the quality that you get. Outside the place looks like a normal house but after you walk to the backyard you see the beauty of it all. The place was pretty, quiet and the staff were super nice people. I felt like at home. Victor is an exceedingly friendly and helpful host (the rest of the family were lovely too). He immediately made us feel at home and made every attempt to understand our poor spanish and talk to us in very clear, slow, spanish so we could understand him! He provided us with a lot of help and information.
The hostel was located on the edge of the historical centre, about 10 to 15 minutes walk from the bus station and a large supermarket, about 30 minutes walk to the lighthouse. The hostel is quite small so it's very quiet.
The bedroom was very comfortable with plenty of storage, a fridge, extra blankets if needed (but a heater was provided), proper glasses for water, and a very good TV.
The bathroom was very large, with a good-sized shower with hot water, plenty of towels provided, and a chair to use.
The kitchen was very well equipped, the best we've come across after 15 months of travelling in S. America. Large hob and oven, smaller oven too. Kettle, blender, coffee maker, etc, and all the pots, pans, tableware and cutlery you could possibly need. Access to large table for eating.

We booked a small 30m2 apartment, but we were very surprised that we got a HUGE apartment instead. It’s like we got a free upgrade without knowing. The apartment was great. It had two bedrooms, two bathrooms with baths, two living rooms, a big kitchen, a washing machine and a terrace with a magnificent view on the pool and the sea. The contact through WhatsApp beforehand was great as well. Everything was explained into detail where to park and where to pick up the key. We loved it here for only $30.000 per night!
The bed were comfy, there were big lockers for storing luggage, few quite clean bathrooms and well equipped kitchen, nice tarrace. The staff was friendly, they helped me a lot that I could stay there after check out to wait for my bus. The location is good in the city centre and close to the big supermarket. There is all day reception which is quite helpful.
Just a couple of minutes walk away from bus terminal, rooms and beds were clean, equipment in kitchen was ok (kitchen is quite small though), breakfast is served but very basic
The staff was great! Helping with any needs, had suggestions where to rent a bike cheap and the hostel is close to the city centre. And they had great stuff in their kitchen for free use (cofee, oats, cuttlery, etc). Gracias a uds por su buenissima atención 🤗
Amazing hotel close to the centre of la Serena. The host was really friendly. Due to the small size of the Hotel, there was a friendly and familiar atmosphere also among guests. The rooms were small, but clean and pretty. The best part of the Hotel are the two gardens, which offer a great place to relax and enjoy meals, when making use of the kitchen of the hotel to prepare own food.

We were given a great room and were able to take a look at the garden. It is very lovingly decorated and planted.
The owner is very nice and we talked to her a lot about Chilean life.
The kitchen has everything you need to cook and was clean. There are several great cats that come by from time to time. We enjoyed our time very much and can recommend it to everyone!
The room was really comfortable and clean. It was easy to meet others in this accommodation as breakfast was on a lovely large table in the dinning room and the outdoor area was small/cosy making it easy to speak to others if you wanted to. The kitchen although small had every you needed.
